Working towards a safer World Cup in West Sussex

This summer, West Sussex County Council will be supporting the co-ordination of a Safer World Cup campaign.

We are working with partners across the night‑time economy to help prevent domestic abuse and violence against women and girls, and to promote safer social spaces during the tournament.

A key strand of this work is the rollout of bystander/upstander training, delivered in partnership with Lifecentre, to venues across the district.

The training supports staff to recognise early warning signs of inappropriate, harmful or escalating behaviour and to take safe, confident action to prevent harm.

It focuses on practical, proportionate interventions that are realistic in busy night‑time economy settings and reinforces that small actions, taken early, can make a real difference.

This activity is being delivered alongside wider partnership work, including engagement with venue managers, licensing, community safety, and VAWG partners including Sussex Police, to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach.

The Safer World Cup campaign is about shared responsibility — working together to ensure that celebrations remain positive, inclusive and safe for everyone.

Pinch me. 💥

After weeks of keeping this under wraps, I finally get to share it.

From 116 people, I’m one of 14 selected to be a TEDx Chichester speaker.

On the 14th of November, I’ll be standing on the iconic red dot in my hometown.

What a privilege.

For years, I’ve been one of the 44 million TEDx YouTube subscribers, watching people share ideas through a screen.

And soon, I’ll get to join them.

Being able to say “thanks for coming to my TEDx talk” is a big, exciting, vision‑board tick.

It’s also the news I’d have loved to share with Dad - who celebrated and championed my out‑of‑the‑box idea, and died in 2021. He’d have been front row in November.

My talk opens the curiosity chapter of the event theme Courage and Curiosity to Create - exploring how ordinary objects, viewed through a different lens, can spark curiosity, creativity and connection, helping people express what often goes unsaid.

Love and thanks to everyone who’s shared this adventure so far - curators Laura and Ellie for bringing TEDx to Chichester, the audition panel, my TEDx coach Vanessa Cuddeford and O&O Trainer Coach - the only person I shared my TEDx audition piece with (it was emotional!)

Six months into 2026, reflecting on where I was in January ...

Inkpact Founder and POWER O.G, Charlotte's banana word for 2026 was DISRUPT. 🍌

Playful disruption is POWER and that day in January was no different.

Seeds planted and nurtured.

And today, blooming.

POWER *in* the Pool. 💙

That weekend in June when we had to go indoors to make community POWER happen.

And, together, we made it happen. 💥

I threw out a wild card, 24hrs before: simply 'Bosham, indoors, who's in'. 👀

No booking link.

If it was a "YES" I sent you a location.

And, to make sure you didn't miss 'the left turn, down the grassy track', I stuck a POWER flag in the grass. 📌

Proper POWER wild+free bananas, just as I envisaged Pop Up life to be.

Thank you, for your trust - no questions asked - you knew it would be bananachat, bunch feel, and shift, no matter where.

And you confirmed it: "it really doesn't matter where you are ... I wasn't sure, but yeh (same POWER)." 🍌
