🌟 Always Learning, Always Growing 🌟

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we are delighted to recognise Nicola, who has been volunteering with us at Coniston House since April.

From the moment she joined us, Nicola has brought a genuine warmth that is felt by both residents and staff. Her calm, caring nature and friendly approach have helped her build positive relationships throughout the home, making her a valued part of our community.

Nicola approaches every task with enthusiasm and quiet confidence, taking the time to do things thoughtfully and with care. Her willingness to get involved and support those around her has been greatly appreciated by everyone she meets.

What truly stands out about Nicola is her commitment to personal growth. She regularly reflects on her experiences and is always keen to learn, develop, and improve. This positive attitude and dedication to self-development are qualities that will serve her well in the future.

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we would like to recognise one of our young volunteers and the positive contribution he has made during his time at Coniston House.

This young man has been a real pleasure to have at Coniston House. He joined us as part of his studies and has taken to the role of volunteer with real enthusiasm and care.

From the very beginning, he has shown a natural ability to connect with residents, always approaching them with kindness, patience and a friendly smile. He has also built strong relationships with staff, becoming a valued and familiar presence around the home.

Over time, it has been lovely to see his confidence grow as he’s learned more about himself through his volunteering experience. He has embraced every opportunity to get involved and has shown real dedication to supporting others.

We are very grateful for the positive energy he brings to Coniston House and proud of the progress he continues to make.

We would like to thank him for his time, commitment and enthusiasm throughout his placement. It has been wonderful to see his confidence grow, and we wish him every success for the future.

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we are proud to recognise Lyla and the incredible journey she has taken with us.

Lyla first joined Coniston House as part of her college placement and quickly made a lasting impression. From day one, she brought enthusiasm, confidence, and a willingness to get involved in everything she did.

She built wonderful relationships with both residents and staff, always bringing a positive attitude and genuine passion for caring for others. Her kindness, dedication, and eagerness to learn shone through throughout her placement, making her a valued part of daily life within the home.

It has been a pleasure to watch Lyla grow in confidence and develop her skills, and we are incredibly proud that her journey has come full circle. What began as a college placement has led to her becoming a valued member of our team.

There’s nothing quite like music to get everyone smiling.

Our residents enjoyed a fun Music and Movement session, filled with favourite tunes, gentle exercise, singing, clapping, and plenty of laughter along the way. These sessions are a wonderful way to encourage movement, boost wellbeing, and bring people together through the joy of music.

It was lovely to see so many happy faces joining in and enjoying the rhythm of the afternoon. 💜

🌟 Volunteering from the Heart ❤️

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we are delighted to shine a spotlight on Charlotte, who chose to volunteer at Coniston House entirely of her own accord.

Having spent time around elderly family members, Charlotte wanted to give something back to the older generation and make a positive difference within her local community. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and caring nature quickly made her a valued part of life at Coniston House.

Charlotte embraced every opportunity to spend time with our residents, getting involved in activities, sharing conversations, and building meaningful relationships along the way. Her warm personality and willingness to help brought smiles to the faces of both residents and staff.

Volunteering gave Charlotte the chance to make a real difference while creating memories and connections that will stay with her for years to come.

🌞 Enjoying the Sunshine 🌞

Our garden was the place to be during last week’s lovely weather, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of our residents’ favourite spots.

From admiring the colourful flowers and enjoying their beautiful scents, to listening to the birds singing and simply relaxing in the sunshine, there was plenty to enjoy.

Spending time outdoors is a wonderful way to connect with nature, enjoy the changing seasons, and make the most of those special moments together. 💙🌷🐦

🌞 Summer Fair Prize Donations Needed 🌞

We’re currently looking for donations for our Summer Fair raffle and tombola and would be so grateful for any support from our wonderful families, friends, and local community.

We are looking for items such as:

• Gift sets
• Chocolates and sweets
• Toiletries
• Bottles (where appropriate)
• Unwanted gifts in good condition
• Vouchers or experiences

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us raise funds while creating a fantastic day for our residents, families, and visitors.

If you would like to donate a prize, please hand it to a member of staff.

We all know how relentless it can be matching socks, but many hands make light work!

Some of our ladies enjoyed getting involved and helping to sort and match socks, working together while sharing plenty of chats and laughter along the way.

🌟Recognising Our Young Volunteers 🌟

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we would like to recognise and thank Amy for the wonderful contribution she has made to life at Coniston House.

Amy first joined us for a week of work experience from Hughes school and went on to become our very first young volunteer. Her enthusiasm, kindness, and willingness to spend time with our residents quickly made a positive impact on everyone around her.

Amy helped demonstrate just how valuable young volunteers can be within a care home setting. The friendships and connections formed between younger people and our residents bring so much joy, encourage meaningful conversations, and create opportunities for both generations to learn from one another. These relationships help build understanding, reduce barriers between generations, and create truly special moments.

Her involvement has helped pave the way for other young people to become part of our home community, creating lasting memories and meaningful connections along the way.

Thank you, Amy, for being the first to begin this journey with us and for the warmth, positivity, and friendship you have shared with our residents. Your contribution has been greatly appreciated by residents, families, and staff alike. ❤️
