Ever feel like your body is losing a tug-of-war with gravity? 🌎📉

It’s called overcompensation, and it’s your nervous system’s way of “protecting” you—even when it creates a literal tilt in your posture.

When one side of the body becomes tight or inhibited, the other side works overtime to keep you upright. This often results in:

• The Shoulder Dip: One side pulling down as the upper trap yields to tension.

• The Lateral Crunch: A compressed lower back where the ribs and pelvis start getting a little too close.

• The Hip Hike: That stubborn elevation that makes one leg feel “longer” than the other.

Left unchecked, gravity just anchors these patterns in, making you feel stuck in a permanent lean.

Could this be the muscle you are holding the most pressure in?😫

Yep, the Levator Scapulae is often the victim when it comes to prolonged periods of posture abuse including such as forward head tilting & rounded shoulders or even due to constant carrying of heavy bags/equipment on one side…😅

This can lead to some of the nastiest shoulder knots 🪢

A lot of individuals will also carry immense emotional pressure in this muscle!

Understanding Hamstring Biomechanics ⛓️‍💥

The bicep femoris is a crucial component of the hamstring group which can be directly impacted by tightness in the glutes & hips. 🫣

This area comes under a lot more strain depending on pelvic rotation. Individuals who display an anterior pelvic tilt through increased sedentary behaviour will naturally have this tightness running through the hamstrings. 😬

Why effective manual therapy is only step one‼️

Mobility restrictions of any kind are becoming too common. But, being able to completely fix this long term will only work when we combine effective treatment with effective aftercare.

You see, when we lengthen the muscles which have had limited range for so long , that is only step one. This is because once new length/range is created these muscles lack stability & structure as they are naturally weak in this new length.

The 🔑 is to strengthen the muscles at this new range which we have created. This will allow for long lasting results.

If you just go back to working this restricted muscle group at the old range which got you in this position in the first place you will slowly lose the new range which was created from the treatment.
