What a day. Over £40,000 raised for ⛳️

Last week, we welcomed friends, partners, supporters and golfers to our Annual Charity Golf Day at the beautiful Woodcote Park Golf Club, all in support of the Rowland Brothers Foundation.

From the first tee-off to the final raffle draw, the day was filled with friendly competition, generosity and community spirit. Guests enjoyed breakfast before taking to the course, with chipping and putting challenges running throughout the day, alongside our exciting hole-in-one competition.

As the sun began to set, everyone came together for dinner, our silent and live auctions, and raffle prizes, helping to raise vital funds for the Foundation and the important work it continues to do.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, donated prizes, volunteered their time, and helped make the day such a success.

For centuries, horse-drawn funerals have been a symbol of dignity, respect, and honour.

Traditionally reserved as a mark of distinction, the gentle pace of a horse-drawn carriage allows families and communities a moment to reflect, remember, and pay tribute to a life well lived.

Our beautiful white horse-drawn carriage offers a timeless and elegant way to accompany a loved one on their final journey. The white horses are often chosen to represent peace, purity, and a fond farewell, creating a truly memorable tribute that reflects the individuality of the person being honoured.

Whether you’re planning ahead or arranging a funeral for someone special, our experienced team is here to guide you with compassion, care, and attention to every detail.

Yes, children can absolutely attend funerals 🤍

There’s no “right age” when it comes to saying goodbye. For many children, being included can actually help them understand loss, process emotions, and feel part of the family’s support system.

The most important thing is preparing them gently:
• Explain what they’ll see and hear
• Let them ask questions
• Reassure them there’s no “right way” to feel

Some families also choose to involve children in special ways; like placing flowers, sharing a drawing, or choosing a song.

Funerals are about love, remembrance, and togetherness - and children are often a meaningful part of that.

With direct cremation, you may not get a chance to say goodbye.

For some families, direct cremation means no viewing, no service, and no moment to come together.
It’s often chosen for its simplicity -but the emotional impact isn’t always understood until afterwards. Some moments can’t be undone.

“No fuss” doesn’t have to mean no goodbye.

As local independents, we’ve found that 62% of people feel being present is one of the best ways to create a sense of meaning, with 48% saying a hug from fellow mourners was a great help during the whole process.

Create a farewell that feels right for everyone with a little help from SAIF.

Yes - absolutely.

We understand that this is an emotional and often unfamiliar process, and it’s completely natural for thoughts and decisions to evolve along the way.

At Rowland Brothers, we’re here to support you with patience and flexibility. If you’d like to revisit any part of the arrangements — whether it’s the service, personal touches, or finer details - we will guide you through the options and make any changes wherever possible.

There is no pressure to have everything decided straight away. What matters most is that everything feels right for you and truly reflects your loved one.

Honouring those who have served - with the utmost respect, precision and pride.

At Rowland Brothers, delivering a military funeral is a responsibility we hold deeply. It is not only about meeting formal requirements, but about recognising a life lived in service to others, and ensuring that honour is reflected in every detail.

From the Union Flag draped over the coffin, to the sounding of the Last Post and Reveille, the presence of Standard Bearers, and wreaths from Regiments or the Royal British Legion - these traditions are carried out with care, dignity and without additional cost to families.

Our team works closely with families to guide them through both the ceremonial and regulatory aspects, ensuring everything is handled seamlessly, respectfully, and in keeping with military tradition.

This commitment is also personal. The Rowland family themselves have a long history of service - from Admiral Reed of the Royal Navy, to generations who served through wartime and national service - shaping a deep-rooted understanding of what these moments truly mean.
