Optimum Corner is a cosy, intimate venue, suitable for one-to-one and small groups meetings. The building is on the corner of Eastleigh Road and Waylands, in Devizes. Although the postal address is Eastleigh Road, the entrance is on Waylands. There is on-site parking for 5 cars, as well as plenty of free parking on the road. If you would like to use our space, for other bump, birth and baby related meetings and events, do please get in contact to discuss this.

This afternoon (Friday 30th October), we're hosting Devizes, Melksham and Calne Breastfeeding Support's Devizes group.

Meet other new and expectant parents, have a cup of tea (or coffee, squash or water) and if you have any feeding concerns, you can discuss them with a fully qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor.

There's toys for all ages of children, and scales are available, should you wish to weigh your baby.

Optimum Bumps is a free antenatal support group. It allows anyone with a baby bump the opportunity to meet others, in a friendly and informal setting, while learning a little something about pregnancy, birth and babies along the way

Each week they cover a different topic, and this evening (Thursday 29th October) the topic is hospital bags.

What should you pack in your hospital bag? Can you take more than one bag? Do you really need disposable knickers? What should you take in the way of snacks? Will you need cash? Should you take my own birth ball? Or your own pillows? What toiletries should you take?

Even if you're planning a home birth, it's a good idea to have all your 'birthy stuff' kept in one easy to access place.

Although the sessions are free to attend, you do need to book your place, as spaces are limited.

It's all about breastfeeding, here at Optimum Corner, over the next couple of days.

Tomorrow (Thursday 22nd) evening Optimum Bumps are running an antenatal session on breastfeeding. The session is free to attend, but spaces are limited, so if you wish to attend, follow the link to book your space: www.eventbrite.com/o/39763881283

And on Friday (23rd) afternoon Devizes, Melksham and Calne Breastfeeding Support will be running here, as usual. Drop-in between 1pm and 2:30pm for feeding suppport or just to chat to other breastfeeding families, over a cup of tea.

This afternoon an expectant mum came to Optimum Corner, for a nursing bra fitting, and while she was here, she hired a TENS machine.

If you would like to arrange a free bra fitting and/or hire a TENS machine, do get in contact to arrange.

On Sunday 25th October we are hosting a safer sleep workshop.

During the session we will cover:

💜 how to reduce the risk of SIDS, and other sleep related hazards
💜 where is safe for baby to sleep (for nighttime sleep and for naps)
💜 how to make your baby's sleep space safer
💜 bed-sharing dos and don'ts

The 'talk' itself won't go on for the entire hour. You may use any extra time to ask questions, chat to other attendees, enjoy a hot cup of tea (or other drink of your choice) and browse safer sleep related literature. Books will be available to borrow, after the session. If you do wish to borrow one, you'll need to leave a £5 refundable deposit, on the day.

The session is suitable for expectant parents, and parents with babies who are 12 months and younger. It is also suitable for grandparents (or other babysitters) who want to make sure they are keeping the babies they are looking after as safe as possible. You are more than welcome to bring your baby along with you.
