Hilary Smith (Hilary's Kitchen Caterer) sadly passed away on 24th August after a brave battle with Secondary Breast Cancer aged 62 years.

Today is National Grief Awareness Day🤍

Grief is something we will all experience at some point, but no two people will experience it in quite the same way. There’s no right way to grieve, and there’s certainly no set amount of time it should take.

Sometimes grief is sadness. Sometimes it’s anger, loneliness, guilt or simply feeling numb. Sometimes you can feel okay one day and find the next one much harder. All of these feelings are part of grief, and none of them are wrong.

We’ve put together these slides with some gentle reminders about grief, places you can turn to for support, and a little more information about our own Bereavement Coffee Morning here in Thornbury☕️

Our coffee morning is a relaxed space to meet others who have experienced bereavement, have a cuppa and some company. You don’t have to talk about your grief — you can simply come along and be around people who understand.

If you’re grieving, please be gentle with yourself. You don’t have to go through it alone🤍

Passed away peacefully at home on 26th July 2026, aged 71. A beloved Mum and Grandmother. Always first on the dance floor, we’ll miss her drive and her love for her family.

A service to celebrate Sandy’s life will be held at Westerleigh Crematorium’s Waterside Chapel on Monday 10th August 2026 at 10.30 a.m., and all are welcome to join the family here. Our family is heartbroken to announce that John Wheeler passed away on 17th July 2026. John will be forever remembered for his humour, kindness and being a true and gentle man. Just thinking of him makes us smile with pride and we are thankful he was ours to love and now to grieve. He adored his family beyond measure and we shall miss the fun, music, love and joy he brought to us every single day. Sadly passed away on Monday 6th July 2026. Much loved Son, Partner, Dad and friend to all. Funeral service to take place on Friday 14th August 2026 at Westerleigh Crematorium, Waterside Chapel at 11:30am. The funeral cortege will leave from Dursley Rugby Club, Hounds Green, Dursley, GL11 6AJ at 10:30am.

The funeral service will be shown via livestream at the rugby club. We encourage as many people as possible to remain at the club to view the service due to limited space at the crematorium. Following the service, a BBQ to celebrate Lyndsay’s life will be held at the rugby club. Feel free to join us and bring a plate of finger food.

Dearly loved daughter of Albert, wife of Bohdan, mother to Jemma and Hollie, and a cherished grandmother to Ruby, Harley and Izaak. Funeral service to take place at St Cyr's Church, Stinchcombe on Thursday 6th August at 1pm. The family will be celebrating Susan's life, following the service, at Dursley Rugby Club in Stinchcombe, to which all are welcome.
