🔍 What does optometry supervision look like?

This week, we wrap up our supervision in optometry video series with reflections from supervisors at different stages of their careers.

🎥 In the final video, we hear from Abeeda Khatoon, Optometrist and Lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University, and Dr Iain Livingstone, Consultant Ophthalmologist at NHS Forth Valley. They share their experiences of supervising undergraduate students and postgraduate optometrists and reflect on what they value most about the role.

We are excited to announce we are running Optometry Independent Prescribing Simulation-Based Sessions at UHI House Inverness on 19th and 29th May 2026 & 16th and 26th June.

These hands-on workshops are now available to book on Turas.

Our simulated patients and EyeSi Virtual Reality slit lamp will provide you with an experience that will leave you prepared to handle more challenging cases. The training will provide you with the opportunity to reflect on your performance, learn from your peers, and refine your clinical and non-technical skills.

Each session can be used for 3 Specialist or 3 General Interactive CPD points and 1 IP clinical placement.

N.B. These sessions 1 to 8 cannot be repeated.

To count towards your IP clinical placement, you must have successfully passed your University Independent Prescribing course. If you are an Optometrist or IP Optometrist, you can also attend to gain CPD.
