🐾 Meet little Violet 💜

Sometimes the smallest patients have the biggest stories.

Violet had a heartbreaking start to life. She was one of five tiny kittens found trapped in a car. Sadly, two of the kittens had already passed away before they were discovered. Two more were rescued and taken to a nearby veterinary practice, but little Violet was still missing.

She was eventually found trapped inside the car's engine compartment. Thanks to the quick thinking of a kind member of the public, the Fire Brigade was called and successfully freed her. She was then brought into the care of Cats Protection, who entrusted us with her treatment.

Unfortunately, Violet's tail had suffered severe damage, most likely from the heat and trauma inside the engine bay. Today, at just around five weeks old, she underwent surgery to amputate the damaged section of her tail.

Anaesthetising such a young kitten always carries additional risks, but thanks to the careful monitoring and expertise of our qualified veterinary nurses, Violet remained safe throughout the procedure. Our skilled vet successfully performed the surgery, and we're delighted to say she has made a full recovery from her anaesthetic.

Violet is now beginning her journey to recovery, and we hope it won't be too long before she's ready to find the loving forever home she truly deserves. 🏡💜

A huge thank you to everyone involved in her rescue—from the member of the public who raised the alarm, to the Fire Brigade, Cats Protection, and everyone who helped give this brave little kitten a second chance.

We're all rooting for you, Violet! 🐱✨

🚦 Traffic Update for Today 🚦

If you're visiting us today, please allow extra time for your journey.

If you have an appointment with us today, please set off a little earlier to help ensure you arrive on time. If you're unavoidably delayed, just give us a call and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and please travel safely. 🐾

Beware scammers seem to be targeting people with missing pets.

We were made aware today by a client that their pet was sadly missing and they had been contacted by someone saying the cat was with us and they needed to pay an amount of money to get the cat back. Thankfully the client thought the call was dodgy and ended the call and messaged us. Unfortunately the cat had not been handed in to us so the owner was right to be sceptical.

When we do get missing pets handed in to us we will never ask you to pay something immediately on the phone when we call you to inform you your pet is with us. Please be careful and if something seems off, it probably is!

☀️ HOT WEATHER NOTICE ☀️

With temperatures set to rise over the coming days, we'd like to remind our clients to consider whether their pet's appointment is essential during the hottest part of the day.

🐶 For dogs in particular, travelling, walking to the clinic, or waiting in warm cars can increase the risk of heat stress and heatstroke.

If your pet's appointment is routine, non-urgent, or you have concerns about travelling in the heat, please contact the practice to discuss whether rescheduling to a cooler day or time would be more appropriate.

💧 Helpful hot weather tips:
• Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening.
• Always provide access to fresh water and shade.
• Never leave pets in vehicles, even for a few minutes.
• Avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest parts of the day.
• Remember that pavements can become hot enough to burn paws.

🚨 Signs of heatstroke include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, collapse, vomiting, or difficulty breathing. If you suspect heatstroke, seek veterinary attention immediately.

Our team is happy to advise if you're unsure whether your appointment should go ahead.

📞 Please call Passey Place Vets if you'd like to discuss rearranging your appointment.

Stay safe and keep those paws cool! 🐾💙
