With my superior equine bodyworker skills I have managed to rip the tail off the unicorn whilst trying to attach the legs!! 🤦‍♀️

Birthday party fail no.1 🤣🤣

Please note no actual unicorns were harmed in the making of this post 😬

This is really interesting!

This is really interesting!

How are your horses looking at the moment? Cresty and carrying extra weight even though the grass seems to have no goodness in it to look at?

When the grass is in drought mode it is highly stressed. Highly stressed because it’s trying to stay alive.

Prolonged dry spells combined with high temperatures can cause plants to accumulate "stress sugar." When water is scarce, growth slows while photosynthesis continues, leading to the storage of sugars as fructans. Soluble sugar levels can also rise, and sugars are often shifted to the roots for energy reserves. This stress can result in pastures appearing brown and lacking fresh grass, resembling dry hay. While extreme rain also presents challenges, drought-affected pastures can be highly stressed and retain little vitality.

The short stressed grass is no good for horses to be on at the moment. I treat this grass we have at the moment as bad as lush spring grass. My shetland pony’s are off of it completely and my big horses are off as much as possible and getting through as much hay as they were mid winter with good body condition scores.

When the environment is wrong management is key to keeping horses healthy.

There are definitely benefits of being an early bird- you get reminded of the simple beauty and joy in life even if things aren't going as smoothly as you'd like.

Having a dog with floppy ears helps too 🐕💛💛

So proud of my little pork chop pony today! Our riding buddy wasn't well so I decided to revisit going out solo (last time we tried about 7 weeks ago he really didn't have the confidence so we came home).

We had a couple of wanting to go home moments on the way out but gently pushed through it and kept the loop short and sweet and he settled quite nicely.

Lovely little confidence and trust building steps. 🤗

*Treatment Highlights*

Lovely Billy is in his 20's now and earlier this year was diagnosed with arthritis in both stifles, which are now being medicated..

However he still sometimes gets stiff behind and has a tendency to overload the forehand, resulting in tightness and restriction in his neck, chest and shoulders.

Massage is not a cure-all, but it can really help support with ongoing issues like arthritis, compensatory patterns and fatigued muscles.

Some of the benefits of regular bodywork include:

🐴 Relieving tight, fatigued muscles and aiding recovery from exercise.

🐴 Supporting healthy blood and lymphatic circulation

🐴 Increased range of motion

🐴 Supporting with rehabilation and reducing injury risk.

🐴 Identifying changes before they become problematic

🐴 Tracking muscle development over time

🐴 Stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system for deeper rest and relaxation

🐴 Supporting mental and emotional well being.

I use mixed modalities (Therapeutic Massage, Sports Massage, Emmett Technique, Reiki) to tailor sessions to the needs of the individual and provide ongoing support, whatever their activity level.
