Coco’s exhibition explores the 7 deadly sins. The work invites us to reflect on the emotions, desires and behaviours that shape how we see ourselves and others.

At the heart of Raison d’être, is the idea of reflection: looking inward and considering the parts of ourselves that are often hidden, complicated or difficult to acknowledge.

Opening tomorrow in Gallery II: Stuart Low

Stuart Low is an artist working in Project Ability's ReConnect studios. His practice spans bold, abstract paintings and more delicate drawings in colour pencil and graphite. His work explores colour, movement and natural forms, with flowers and plants featuring strongly in his observational studies. Drawing is an important part of his daily practice, with his sketchbooks documenting an ongoing fascination with nature and abstraction.

Stuart Low's collection of artwork is shown alongside 'Raison d'etre' by Coco, in our main gallery at Trongate 103. Both exhibitions are part pf the Scottish Mental Health Awareness Festival.

We are delighted to announce the opening of Raison d’être.

Raison d’être is a vibrant new solo exhibition by ReConnect artist Coco, opening this Saturday, 19 September, at Project Ability.

Coco’s first solo exhibition brings together a striking series of seven paintings inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins. Through bold colour, expressive characters and playful patterns, Coco explores pride, envy, lust, greed, gluttony, wrath and sloth – not simply as ‘good’ or ‘bad’, but as complicated and very human emotions.

At the heart of the exhibition is the idea of self-reflection, identity and learning to accept our imperfections.

For Coco, art has also played a deeply personal role. After discovering art during a difficult period with her mental health, creating became a way to focus, express herself and find a sense of purpose. Now, she is bringing together years of creative exploration for her first solo exhibition.

We’d love for you to come along and celebrate this milestone with Coco. 💛

For the final video in our ‘I am here… to be seen’ interview series, we’re hearing from Create and Aspire artist Peter, as well as his mum, Julie.

Peter shares some of his experiences of being part of Project Ability, while Julie talks about her own experience of Project Ability and life as the parent of a child with a disability.

Our Young Talent exhibition is coming to an end this Saturday, 12 September at 5pm!

Featuring work by talented young artists from Project Ability, this year’s exhibition, Going for Gold, celebrates creativity, sport and the things that inspire us.

For Scottish Learning Disability Week, we caught up with Create Artist Emma to talk about her experiences, her artwork and what she would like to see change in society for people with learning disabilities.

For Scottish Learning Disability Week, we caught up with Aspire artist, Jack, to hear more about their artwork, their creative practice and what being seen means to them.

This year’s theme is ‘I am here… to be seen’ - a celebration of people with learning disabilities being visible, heard and recognised for who they are and what they bring to the world.
