Mind Set Shift

Your body often notices stress before your mind does.

You might find that you suddenly feel exhausted, irritated, emotional, restless or unable to switch off, and instead of listening to what your body is trying to tell you, you push yourself harder and carry on, dismissing the feelings.

Most people have become very good at ignoring themselves. I know I have done it.

So today pause and ask yourself what is my body trying to tell me right now?

It might be you need rest, you need space or that you need to stop putting everyone else before yourself for five minutes.

Your body isn’t working against you it is constantly trying to work for you and the more you Lauren to it then the safer you can begin to feel within yourself.

I’ve definitely become more aware of this lately.

How to deal with negative thoughts

We all get negative thoughts and for many people they just let it go and move on.

But when you have anxiety, lack confidence and self esteem you might hold onto those negative thoughts a bit longer than most. Then perhaps you end up replaying them over and over again in your head, perhaps making trying to make some sense of it all.

Here’s a few ways of dealing with those negative thoughts.

1. Release it, let it out, have a 3 minute rant about it then stop.

2. Track it. Identify when you have it, what were you doing, what was said that brought it on, how does it make you feel. Being aware of that helps you to reframe it

3. Reframe it. Once you know when you have these thought, what the triggers are and how it makes you feel. Think about why you’re being mean to yourself and then think what your best friend would say to you. Then speak to yourself like that.

4. Spin it the other way. When those thoughts pop in and create a feeling within your body pay attention to how that feeling moves. Move your hand in the direction and at the speed that you feel it’s going, then stop it for a fraction of a second and then move your hand in the opposite direction, slowing it down as you do so until it feels better. Never stop it completely, just allow it to flow softer, slower and more gentle. Then notice how different it feels to think those negative thoughts.

5. Write it down. When you write down your negative thoughts it helps to clear them out of your head. So whether it’s pen and paper or typed on a screen see the words, it makes it easier to make sense of them.

6. Do something you love. Instead of fighting with the negative thoughts make a conscious decision to think of thoughts that make you feel better. A great way of doing it is to say it out loud to what you love and appreciate. So perhaps saying “I love the way this coffee/tea tastes” “I love the taste of… (whatever it is your eating)” “I like how this jumper/dress/T-shirt feels against my skin” “I appreciate the chance to take some time for myself to go for a walk” “I love being in nature”. When you focus on what you love and enjoy you’ll begin to find more of that.

All these things can help rewire your brain to look for the good things in your life.

What one thing do you love doing that you can do today?

Have you ever felt that enough is enough?

Have you felt like you just can't go on the way you're going, that you just can't take it anymore?

How many times have you thought today is the day that everything is going to change?

Most problems don't just happen overnight. You work yourself up over a situation, and tell yourself stories about how bad it's going to be. You may even convince yourself that others are talking about how you handle the situation, saying things like "I know they think i'm useless, that they could do a better job of it".
Perhaps you think your family see you as the one who isn't capable of doing anything for them, 'because you're no good in that kind of situation"

These are all stories you tell yourself, and the more you tell them the more you believe them, and the more you believe them the more it affects you in your day to day life. You soon think of nothing else, it can start to consume you and slowly take away every bit of your confidence in your ability to be your honest, true, authentic self.

Don't wait until tomorrow to decide to change, make that change now, find out who you really are, what inspires you, what separates you from others.

I can help you answer these questions and a whole lot more so that you can be the happier you.

So if you're sick and tired of being sick and tired, just give me a call when your ready.

A focused mind doesn’t have time for anxiety.

Have you ever been so busy that you forgot to be anxious.

When your mind is clear and centred you’re in the moment. You’re not spinning in the “what ifs”.

Anxiety creeps in when your head is full of noise, when you’re thinking about everything except what actually matters right now.

That’s why breathwork can be so powerful. Slowing down your breathing so you have long slow controlled breaths helps activate your parasympathetic nervous system, rest & digest. It’s like a built in relaxation switch. It slows everything down and makes you feel calm and relaxed.

It helps quiet the chaos, helps you focus and gives your mind a bit of peace.

When your mind is busy being present there’s no room for anxiety.

Learning simple breathing exercises is a great way to help reduce anxiety.

Happy Saturday

We were in Australia for nearly 2 weeks and were lucky enough to be in Sydney for their Vivid Experience.

It was absolutely chucking it down but we still managed to stay and see some of the displays. I heard there was lots of sunshine back home then.

Barry always says happy wife, happy life, right now I think we’re both very happy 😆.

Have a great weekend whatever you’re doing.

Mind Set Shift

Not every thought deserves your attention.

Some thoughts are helpful and some are protective but some are just an old noise playing in the background.

The problem is when we keep listening to every anxious or negative thought as though it is a fact, the mind starts believing everything it hears.

Just because you think something doesn’t automatically mean it’s true.

Today just notice your thoughts instead of immediately attaching to them.

There’s no need to argue with them, or panic about them, but importantly you do not need to believe every single one.

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is to let a thought pass through without building a story around it.

That takes practice and the more you practice it the easier it becomes and changes everything over time.

I still catch myself doing this.
