πŸ‘ΆπŸŽ‰ Expecting or recently welcomed another baby to your family? You might be expecting some things to be different, and the vaccine schedule for your baby is one thing that will be.

At the start of this year, the routine childhood vaccination schedule changed. Babies are now offered protection against chickenpox alongside measles, mumps and rubella through the introduction of the MMRV vaccine, which is already part of routine childhood vaccination programmes in several countries, including Canada, Australia and Germany.

πŸ§‘β€πŸΌπŸ’¬ "But why make changes? Isn't chickenpox usually mild?"
While most children experience chickenpox as a mild illness, it can sometimes be more serious and require hospital treatment. In rare cases, it can lead to complications such as chest infections, seizures and encephalitis (inflammation of the brain). The MMRV vaccine helps protect children against four serious diseases: measles, mumps, rubella, and chickenpox, while the introduction of the 18-month appointment will help provide them with protection at a younger age.

πŸ’™ A Heartfelt Thank You πŸ’™

As we reach the end of our first week with the new GP appointment request system, we'd like to take a moment to thank our patients for their support.

Change can feel daunting, and introducing a new way of accessing appointments has been a learning experience for all of us. We're delighted that the launch has gone smoothly and are incredibly grateful for the patience, understanding, and encouragement we've received throughout the week.

We're all learning and navigating this new system together, and your support has helped make the transition a success. Thank you for being part of the journey with us.

πŸ“’ Reminder: Our New GP Appointment Request System Launches Tomorrow πŸ“’

Just a friendly reminder that our new Rapid Health GP appointment request system goes live tomorrow (19 August).

From 6:00am, patients will be able to submit medical and administrative requests online via our website:
https://simmondley-consult.uk.rapidhealth.co.uk/

If you would prefer not to use the online form, or have difficulty accessing the internet, you can still telephone the surgery or visit reception, and a member of our team will be happy to complete the form with you.

πŸ“± Need help getting digital?

We have iPads available in our waiting room, and digital support will be available from volunteers at the Bureau throughout Wednesday and Thursday morning this week. Thereafter, our regular Tuesday morning support sessions will continue, as detailed in the Digital Support poster.

Thank you for your patience and support as we introduce this new way of requesting appointments and administrative help. We remain committed to keeping access to our services simple and accessible for everyone.
