Author of Dementia from the Inside: Jennifer Bute, a retired GP who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease and devotes her time to challenge how people view dementia, passionately believing more can be done to improve the present and future for those living with dementia, sharing her experiences, challenges and strategies to help people understand and live with dementia.

Jennifer highlights how, although dementia has changed her life and presents challenges, it is also an opportunity for those with the disease and those around them.

We are delighted that Dr Bute will be joining us at Hucclecote and Dursley Libraries, a retired GP and published author, who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at 63. Jennifer brings a unique and powerful perspective, combining her medical expertise with her personal journey of living with dementia.
Jennifer will be sharing her experiences, challenges, and the practical strategies that help her navigate daily life, offering support and insight for anyone affected by dementia. She is passionate about helping others understand the condition, and her message is one of hope, resilience, and possibility.

Today is Social Prescribing Day!

Our Social Prescriber at Hucclecote Surgery is Emma, and she is here to support our patients to access services that can help with any non-medical needs.

If you are aged 18+ and need support with housing, finances, employment, education, accessing local community groups or just need some extra support with your emotional and physical health and wellbeing, please speak to any member of staff at the surgery to be referred to the social prescribing service.
