To all our customers, their families and our colleagues in the Todmorden area and beyond. We have been asked to help promote the Burnley Memory Choir, which begins on Monday 7th September 2026 from 1pm until 3 pm.

The choir is for people living with dementia and their carers, providing a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment where people can enjoy singing together, make new friendships, and experience the many wellbeing benefits that music can bring. No previous singing experience is needed—everyone is welcome.

Venue: West End Community Centre, Venice Street, Burnley BB11 4BA

The choir is free to attend, with free parking available.

⚠️ Possible delays in Hebden Bridge today

We’re aware of a significant water leak in the centre of Hebden Bridge, which has resulted in road closures and disruption to traffic.

As a result, some of our team may experience delays when travelling to and from appointments.

We’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption and will keep customers updated if we expect to be significantly delayed.

Investing in Our Carers Through Quality Training

At Welcome Independent Living, we believe that great care starts with great training.

That’s why we are proud to deliver in-house, face-to-face training for our carers — providing the knowledge, confidence and practical skills they need to make a real difference in people’s lives.

For those new to care, starting a career in social care can feel daunting. Our training gives new carers the strong foundations they need, supporting them to develop the confidence to work competently and independently in the community while always knowing they have the support of our experienced team behind them.

Our 4 day induction programme includes the 15 Care Certificate Standards and much more, covering the essential skills, values and behaviours that underpin safe, compassionate and person-centred care.

We believe training is not just about ticking boxes — it is about developing people, building confidence and ensuring every person we support receives the highest standard of care.

Once our carers successfully complete their probation, many continue their professional journey by working towards Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care, growing their skills and progressing their careers.

Training is at the heart of our values, our ethics and our commitment to the people we support.

Today we celebrate one of the world's most magnificent and resilient animals – the tiger. Known for their strength, courage and determination, tigers remind us of qualities we see every day in our incredible carers and the people we support at Welcome Independent Living.

Just like tigers, our carers face challenges with confidence, protect those in their care, and show remarkable resilience in helping people live independently in their own homes. We also see strength and determination in our customers, who continue to overcome obstacles, achieve personal goals and live life on their own terms.

On International Tiger Day, we're reminded that every act of kindness, support and encouragement can make a real difference. Together, our carers and customers demonstrate that true strength isn't just about power – it's about compassion, perseverance and supporting one another.

Our incredible carers don't just provide support—they listen to stories, share laughter, offer reassurance during difficult days, and make sure every customer feels heard, respected and valued.
