We all at times feel depressed when things seem to be negative and beyond our control. If we hit a really horrendous situation, this can turn into despair. The Bailey Grief Essence is for people suffering from bereavement or the loss of something precious in their lives. At such times we need to be able to express our grief so that it does not become locked within us. The composite essence includes the following essences.

This is for loving comfort and support when we feel totally bereft, and other people, however caring, may seem very distant. It also allows us to open up to the depths of our grief without fear.

Now that we've got cheery buttercups all around us, do you remember having a buttercup put under your chin to test if you like butter? In the same way that buttercups bring sunshine into our lives during this season, Buttercup Essence helps us to open up and let the sunshine in.

Often people who need this Essence have a sunny nature that has been suppressed. Because of their experiences, however, they may well have developed a negative, jaundiced view of the world. Indeed, they might have become habitual cynics, always ascribing negative motives to any good deed performed by others.

To celebrate Becca Hunter's visit to Yorkshire this month, we are delighted to highlight The Handbook of Bailey Flower Essences by Arthur Bailey, the founder of Bailey Flower Essences. Becca is Arthur's step-daughter and she ran the business from 1993 until 2016 when it came under the umbrella of Yorkshire Flower Essences. Becca now lives in Canada but still feels a deep connection to Ilkley and the flower essences.

The Handbook gives details on the general background to the essences, selection of the appropriate ones to take, preparation of the dosage and full details including full colour pictures of all the individual and composite essences. It also includes the Five Elements Essences. All this information is available on the Yorkshire Flower Essences website, but it is wonderful to be able to flick through a physical book and to look at the pictures on paper.
