COMMUNICATE : Independent Speech & Language Therapy An Independent Speech & Language Therapy service for people with communication difficulties throughout Suffolk and East Anglia.

COMMUNICATE is a team of speech and language therapists; offering a specialist service across Suffolk and in to East Anglia. Our expertise enable us to effectively treat all paediatric communication difficulties, making therapy fun and engaging for the child but informative for parents. We also treat all adult communication difficulties, working with them to set and achieve meaningful and motivati

ng goals. We see individual clients in the setting of their choice or in our clinic. COMMUNICATE also fulfil a number of contracts with early years settings, primary and secondary schools and special schools. We deliver a complete speech and language therapy service to our settings, dovetailing in with the NHS team and helping those settings to decrease their SLCN levels and increase their confidence in identification and management. Our training department regularly holds training courses on a variety of communication topics, these are often held at our clinic and range from 2hours to a full day. We also deliver bespoke training packages when requested, written and delivered to the client's wishes.

It’s a soggy day out there!

‘Soggy’ and ‘soaking’ would have been PERFECT target words for this session, focusing on lots of play based work on Fricatives ‘s’, ‘f’, and ‘h’!

We had lots of fun washing odd Socks and Socks that were the Same… we pretended that some were Smelly, Stinky, and Smelt like Feet! wHo, could have worn them?!

We’ve annotated just a few of the opportunities to use these sounds through this play scenario, but there are lots more! Above all the child had lots of fun, and a tonne of examples of target sounds were elicited 💚

Lauren has been busy in Therapy this week exploring concepts of time, using chunking and lots of visuals.

You could use similar scrap booking ideas for Days of the Week, and add songs, or stick on textures that represent different clubs!

💡 A small plastic spoon for breakfast club days
💡 Piece of an old tennis ball for PE
💡 Goggles or an old swim hat for swimming

We’ve made little time capsules for seasons before, and added to these throughout the year… laminating a little pouch of seasonal treasures (think sand for the beach in Summer, a daisy from the field, or an orange leaf for Autumn).

We have an exciting opportunity opening up for some project work with our clinical team!

The successful candidate would be provided with full clinical supervision and support, and be working to provide 3 planned therapy groups as part of a 6 week intervention package.

The role is designed to fit into 1.5 days/week, and would be ideally suited to an SLT Graduate. It is a perfect opportunity for someone graduating to gain some practical clinical experience, and get a feel for us as a team.

… There is also potential for the right candidate to be fast tracked toward our September Therapist vacancies, which we will be recruiting for soon!
