Every life is unique, and every farewell should reflect that.
Personalising a funeral allows us to weave a person’s personality, passions, beliefs and treasured memories into the service, creating a meaningful and memorable tribute for those who knew and loved them.

Recently, we had the honour of working closely with a family to create a very special keepsake for their loved one — a gentleman who enjoyed the outdoors and the pheasant beating season.
We brought Cheryl from Fine Feathers on board, and she beautifully handcrafted lapel brooches using locally sourced feathers for each of the cord bearers. A thoughtful and fitting keepsake that will be cherished long after the service.

The delicacy and beauty of Cheryl’s work touched me so much that I have now chosen to wear one of her beautiful pieces as part of my own uniform.

Because sometimes, it’s the smallest details that make a farewell truly personal.

Proud to be a part of this great sponsorship opportunity.

Good luck to all at Jed Thistle and wishing you a successive season ahead. 🏉

A huge thank you to all the businesses, families and individuals who have sponsored a Jed Thistle shirt number for the 2026/27 season!

Your support means a massive amount to the club and helps us continue to provide rugby opportunities for our players across both our Under 16 and Under 18 squads.

We are incredibly grateful for every sponsor who has supported Jed Thistle and our young players. Your generosity and backing is greatly appreciated by everyone involved with the club. 🏉

With the First league game next weekend at home against Selkirk keep an eye on our page for more announcements!

As children return to school after the summer holidays, many families will be looking forward to new beginnings, new routines and seeing familiar faces again.

But for a child who is grieving the death of someone they love, returning to school can bring a whole mixture of emotions.

They may be excited one moment and tearful the next. They might worry about being asked how their summer was, seeing friends who don't know what has happened, or simply having to carry on with ordinary school life when everything feels far from ordinary.

Grief doesn't stop because the school holidays are over.

Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is simply listen, give them time and let them know that whatever they are feeling is okay. A quiet word from a teacher, a little extra understanding from a friend, or knowing there is someone they can turn to can make a tremendous difference.

For parents and carers, please remember that there is no 'right' way for a child to grieve. Some children talk openly, others become quiet. Some seem perfectly fine and then struggle unexpectedly.

Be gentle with them — and with yourselves. ❤️

As a funeral director, we know that grief affects every member of a family, including the youngest. We are always here to offer support, reassurance and a listening ear when families need us.

Thinking of all the children and young people returning to school while carrying the loss of someone they love. 🕊️
