🚨 3 Symptoms You Shouldn’t Ignore

Some symptoms should never be brushed aside. Knowing when to seek medical advice could make all the difference.

1️⃣ Tightness in the chest or difficulty breathing
Chest tightness, pain or unexplained shortness of breath should always be taken seriously.

2️⃣ Sudden weakness, numbness or difficulty speaking
These can be warning signs of a stroke and require urgent medical attention.

3️⃣ Unexplained weight loss or persistent bleeding
If you’re losing weight without trying or experiencing unexplained or persistent bleeding, it’s important to get checked.

💊 WHEN SHOULD YOU NOT TAKE IBUPROFEN?

Ibuprofen can be great for relieving pain, inflammation and fever — but it isn’t suitable for everyone.

You should check with a pharmacist or healthcare professional before taking ibuprofen if you:

❌ Have or have previously had a stomach ulcer
❌ Have had an allergic reaction to ibuprofen, aspirin or other NSAIDs
❌ Have asthma, particularly if painkillers have triggered symptoms before
❌ Have heart, liver or kidney problems
❌ Have problems with blood clotting
❌ Are taking blood-thinning medicines or certain other medications
❌ Are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
❌ Are already taking another NSAID painkiller, such as naproxen or aspirin for pain relief

⚠️ Remember: Just because a medicine is available without a prescription doesn’t mean it’s suitable for everyone.

Insect bites and stings are common, especially during the warmer months and while travelling. Most are mild and improve within a few days but that doesn’t mean you have to put up with the itching and irritation!

💊 ACCIDENTAL OVERDOSE: CHECK BEFORE YOU TAKE

Did you know it can be surprisingly easy to accidentally take too much of a medicine …. especially when several products contain the same active ingredient?

Paracetamol is a common example. It can be found in many different products, including:

💊 Cold & flu remedies
💊 Cough and pain-relief medicines
💊 Headache and migraine products
💊 Prescription painkillers containing paracetamol

You may not realise you’re taking paracetamol from more than one source at the same time.

🌿 And don’t forget herbal and complementary remedies. These can also interact with medicines, so “natural” doesn’t automatically mean they’re safe to combine with everything else you’re taking.

Before combining medicines or supplements, check the ingredients and follow the recommended dose.
