Yesterday we held a truly magical Wizard of Oz Celebration of Life for our wonderful manager, Tee.

Every one of our ground floor areas were beautifully decorated to the incredibly high standards that Tee always inspired us to achieve. Family, friends and colleagues came dressed in bright colours or as Wizard of Oz characters, creating a day filled with laughter, tears, cherished memories and, of course, plenty of dancing.

The day was simply perfect, and i know that each and everyone of you/us made Tee proud. We did what Horsforth Manor does best – we came together as one team to organise and deliver our biggest event to date.
I have no doubt that, wherever Tee was watching from, she was smiling, nodding and saying, "Well done," because she taught us all so much.

Tee will be forever missed but never forgotten. Her passion, determination, kindness and pursuit of excellence will continue to live on in everyone who walks through the doors of Horsforth Manor.

We feel incredibly fortunate that we were all able to come together as one big family to celebrate Tee's life in a way that reflected the joy, love and magic she brought to so many people.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to making yesterday such a memorable occasion. Our heartfelt thanks go out to our exceptional team, our amazing residents, their families, and all those who provided support from the head office. We are especially grateful to Jonathan and Elizabeth and the rest of their family for their incredible assistance throughout this challenging period.

During the celebration we raised money for the Sir Ambulance, he messaged me later that evening to say that we had collected a whopping £441.89p
Thank you Little Movers Leeds West for sharing your spr ead a little kindness money jar. It has gone to an amazingly cause.

Now, we carry Tee's legacy forward.
We will continue to be the incredible team she believed in.
We will continue to ensure our residents are happy, safe and respected.
We will continue striving to be better every single day.

Target practice 🎯

With the weather being as warm as it has been, we decided to get out the water pistols and do a bit of target practice in the gardens and on the balcony.

Derek found the stationary targets to be quite easy and desired a greater challenge. Coincidentally, Carer Claire came outside to greet them and, unknowingly, became their moving target. 😂

I am confident that you will agree that some beautiful photos were taken during this afternoon's lavender picking.

It was indeed a delightful activity, with multiple generations of families coming together, enjoying the fragrant lavender, engaging in pleasant conversation, and basking in the glorious sunshine 🌞

We now need to wait for the lavender to dry before we can create lavender-filled hearts for our residents' rooms, which are intended to help reduce stress, promote relaxation, and aid sleep.

Some folks say Sunday's for resting, but not us here at the Manor.

Just today, we cranked up the beatbox, sang our hearts out, and danced like nobody was watching up on our Haven.
Downstairs, we all gathered in the bar where we did some crosswords together... our residents are seriously smart, it's wild what they know and all the places they've been.

After we had rehydrated and eaten lunch, we were ready to finish the day by baking some shortbread biscuits, which proved to be quite amusing, as I believe more ended up on us.
Last, but at no means least we enjoyed a game of prize bingo downstairs, utilising our wonderful new machine.

Great Sunday, spent together ❤️

This week, we brought a touch of the Wild West to Horsforth Manor with our very own hoedown. The tables were beautifully decorated, and everyone enjoyed their chocolate coin while sipping a shot of Jack Daniels mixed with ginger beer.

Regrettably, our entertainer did not arrive as planned (having mistakenly gone to a different venue), but it was still a fantastic afternoon, with the kitchen team once again providing wonderful food! Guests had a choice of BBQ chicken drumsticks, chips, and coleslaw, or cowboy hash, or a burger from our first BBQ of the year. For dessert, everyone enjoyed homemade brownies with cream and ice cream.

There was also a round of bingo, where prizes included cowboy keyrings or a cowboy mug with beef jerky.

This afternoon, our ladies and gentlemen of our Haven, equipped with iPads, set off on a delightful task to showcase their photography skills. While there was a slight learning curve initially, they quickly adapted and thoroughly enjoyed their time in the garden.

Due to the ridiculously hot weather today our residents popped on their bikinis and trunks 👙🩳

Bit of a light hearted, silly activity this afternoon where our residents designed their own swimwear and happily modelled them, I'm just hoping no-one jumped in the fountain 😂

Its a good job our residents are as daft as the Activities team 🙈
