Our residents have had a wonderful few days at Ghyll Royd! 🌸 They enjoyed harvesting Harmony seeds for beautiful floral displays, as well as celebrating resident B’s birthday on Rowan! 🎂

Residents filled the lounge, choosing favourite songs for a sing-along, and got competitive with boules and armchair exercises, where resident 'E' won the cup! 🏆

To top it all off, residents welcomed musicians Tom and Bob for a lively afternoon of music, singing and laughter. 🎶🎸

Our residents at Ghyll Royd Care Home have enjoyed a wonderful week! 🌟

Outings were a fantastic highlight, with residents admiring the art at Cartwright Hall before sipping coffee by the water gardens, followed by a scenic drive to the Cow and Calf to watch people walking on the rocks while enjoying flasks of drinks and biscuits. ☕️🏞️

In the home, residents tested their knowledge with 60s–80s guess the tune, bingo, dominoes, and a 50s nostalgia quiz that sparked lovely chats about hop dances and favourite books. 🎲📚 Keeping active was plenty of fun with 60s armchair exercise, a boules tournament, and an upbeat Moove with Oona session where residents were delighted to have staff join in with scarf dancing! 🕺

There was plenty of time to relax too, from 1-to-1 chats and cosy TV evenings to a group discussion about the new M&S opening. 🛒 Our spa trolley brought relaxing hand, foot, and ankle massages alongside matching forget-me-not nail art, while two wonderful birthdays were celebrated on Blossom and Rowan! 💅🌸🎂

It’s time to feature another dedicated face behind the care here at Spellman Care! 🌟

"I first joined the team here at Ghyll Royd back in February 2023, and it has been a privilege to support our residents ever since. My background is a little unique; I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology and previously worked as a hospital data encoder. This technical experience gave me a real eye for detail and precision, which I now combine with my natural passion for caring.

With over four years of hands-on experience in both elderly and childcare, I truly value the importance of person-led support. I find so much fulfillment in caring for our residents and doing everything I can to improve their daily comfort and quality of life. For me, it’s all about providing attentive care with a genuine, empathetic touch.

When I’m not at work, I love to spend my time exploring. I’m a big fan of music and I adore travelling whenever I get the chance. It’s always wonderful to experience different cultures and find new places to relax and explore."

Yesterday, our residents enjoyed a wonderful day filled with music and smiles at Ghyll Royd! 🎶✨

The morning started in Rowan with a lively sing-along, where a few of our residents couldn't resist having a little dance. 💃🕺

In the afternoon, Hollie the Collie joined us to perform 30 minutes of incredible tricks, from hide and seek to finding sausages under lids. She then visited residents in their rooms, bringing plenty of smiles and doggy cuddles! 🐶🥰🐾

Our residents at Ghyll Royd had a wonderful day yesterday! 🌟

They enjoyed upbeat armchair exercises 💃 followed by sitting in the sunshine chatting about cars and flowers ☀️ For lunch, everyone enjoyed bruschetta made with tomatoes grown by E! 🍅

The afternoon brought a fun dominoes tournament won by G 🁔🥳 before B and B finished the day sharing ice creams, stories, and memories in the sun 🍦✨

Our residents at Ghyll Royd Care Home have been enjoying a busy and fun-filled couple of days! 🍅🎂💃

On Monday, residents spent time out in the conservatory checking on our growing tomatoes 🍅, watering them and carefully re-tying the highest stems. Later in the day, residents joined Nurse Jellie to celebrate her birthday 🎂 after she kindly chose to share her special day with everyone in the home. Residents and staff enjoyed a wonderful spread featuring delicious sandwiches, macaroons, mini cakes, and two birthday cakes during a lovely afternoon of socialising! ❤️

Yesterday, residents got active with a lively morning armchair workout set to a classic 50s and 60s soundtrack, followed by an energetic ABBA Mamma Mia routine that had residents and staff alike dancing along! 💃🎶 After a refreshing tea and coffee break, residents gathered for our weekly boules tournament, where E from Rowan proudly took home the trophy 🏆 for the second week running!

We are so lucky to have such dedicated staff who love spending their birthdays celebrating alongside our residents, making Ghyll Royd such a warm and special place to be! ✨👏

Our residents at Ghyll Royd Care Home had an action-packed day on Tuesday! 🌟

We kicked off the morning with energetic armchair exercises and a lively game of boules. Competition was fierce with a few very close rounds, but resident 'E' on Rowan played brilliantly and won back the trophy! 🏆

In the afternoon, the Unity Ukes paid us another wonderful visit! Bringing their amazing energy and talent, they had our residents and families up and dancing along to the music. It was lovely to see everyone enjoying the live performance together. 🎶💃

We also had a visit from photographer Stephen Garnett, who was taking photos for our new home brochure. Our residents asked if they could get involved and feature in the shoot, proudly taking centre stage on our front patio in the backdrop! Keep an eye out for those pictures coming very soon. 📸✨
