Does Sunekos hurt? Here is the honest answer, plus what recovery actually looks like.

This is the question we get asked more than any other, and it usually gets a vague answer. So, properly:

Sunekos is done using a very fine cannula rather than a traditional needle. Numbing cream goes on first and is left for around 20 minutes before treatment starts.

Most patients describe the sensation as a mild pressure rather than a sharp pain. The whole appointment takes roughly 15 minutes from start to finish.

Afterwards, expect some redness. For most people it has settled by the next morning. The area around the eyes is thinner skin and can behave slightly differently, which is something we talk through at consultation rather than leave you to discover.

Sunekos is usually given as two sessions, two weeks apart.

If pain is the thing holding you back, say so at consultation. It is a normal thing to raise and there are ways to make it easier.

Sunekos or polynucleotides? They're not the same treatment, and most people booking one should have booked the other.

Both are skin regeneration treatments. Neither one is filler, neither adds volume. If volume loss is your main concern, neither of these is your treatment.

Sunekos combines amino acids with hyaluronic acid and works on overall skin quality. Typically two sessions, two weeks apart.

Polynucleotides - Sometimes called salmon DNA treatment, works by stimulating your own fibroblasts. Typically three sessions. Particularly used around the under-eye area and for skin laxity.

The honest answer to "which one do I need" is that it depends on an assessment, not on which one you read about first.

What is Sunekos? It is not filler, it boosts your own collagen and elastin.

The difference is worth understanding before you book either one.

Filler adds volume to your face directly. Sunekos does not add volume at all. It combines amino acids with low weight hyaluronic acid, and works by prompting your own skin to produce collagen and elastin while it hydrates.

Collagen is the scaffolding that holds skin up. Elastin is what lets it spring back. Most treatments in this category work on collagen alone, which is what makes Sunekos different.

Because it treats skin quality rather than volume, it tends to suit early signs of ageing, dullness and texture, and the area around the eyes where skin is at its thinnest.

Typically two sessions, two weeks apart.

And if what you have actually lost is volume, Sunekos is not the right treatment, which is something we would rather say at consultation than after you have paid for a course.

What is Julaine? It's not filler it's a collagen-stimulating treatment.

The difference matters more than the name does.

Hyaluronic acid filler adds volume directly. Julaine works by stimulating your own collagen instead, building gradually over 12 to 24 months rather than showing up the same week.

That makes it a structural treatment:
- Mid-face support
- Jawline definition
- Line-smoothing
- It stays soft and integrates with your own tissue.

It's also not reversible. Which is exactly why we won't use it on some first-time aesthetic patients, why it's never a same-day treatment, and why we'd never inject Julaine without seeing you twice. Never on lips, either.

What order should you have aesthetic treatments in? Most people get sold them in the order they first heard about them.

There's a clinical order, and it's rarely the same one.

A staged rejuvenation plan works in three layers.
1. Structure first collagen-stimulating treatments like Julaine, where they're appropriate.
2. Skin quality second - Sunekos for overall skin quality, polynucleotides for the under-eye area and skin laxity.
3. Fine-tuning last - anti-wrinkle injections and hyaluronic acid filler, in conservative doses, once everything underneath has settled.

Done in that order, each stage supports the next. Done backwards, you end up treating the surface of a face that hasn't been supported underneath.

This is a 6 to 24 month facial rejuvenation plan, not a single appointment. Which is the part most clinics leave out of the conversation.
