💌 One Year of Letters to Heaven 💌

A year ago, we shared the beautiful “Letters to Heaven” post box beside the chapel at Vandyke Road Cemetery — and even now, we still think it is one of the most thoughtful and meaningful spaces for those navigating grief and remembrance.

Sometimes there are words left unsaid.
Sometimes we simply miss hearing someone’s voice.
And sometimes, writing a letter can bring a small moment of comfort, connection, and peace.

Over the past year, this special post box has quietly become a place where people can pause, reflect, remember, and continue their bond with those they love and miss so dearly.

Whether it’s a birthday message, an anniversary note, or just a few words from the heart, the idea behind “Letters to Heaven” is such a gentle reminder that love does not end when someone dies.

We still think this is such a beautiful idea and a truly special thing for our community to have. 🌸

Sometimes the question of who is responsible for arranging a funeral comes up.

Our blog post gently explains who may be responsible, what to consider, and the steps involved during what can feel like an overwhelming time.

Understanding this in advance can bring a sense of clarity and reassurance when it’s needed most 🤍

Take a moment to read through and feel a little more prepared for the unknown.

We are always here to answer any questions you may have.

If you are recently bereaved, you may be wondering who is responsible for arranging and paying for your loved one's funeral. Whilst anyone can plan and pay for a funeral in the UK, it might be useful to understand where legal responsibility lies. You can find out more in our recent blog: https://bit.ly/42Fym01

The Golden Charter seal represents trust, reassurance, and connection.

For us, it shows that we’re part of a nationwide network of independent funeral directors who share the same standards of care and professionalism.

When families see the seal, they know they can rely on us - a local, independent business supported by one of the UK’s largest funeral plan providers.*

*Based on a Golden Charter analysis and independent research of the funeral plan market size as of December 2024.

April is National Stress Awareness Month

Grief, loss, and saying goodbye to a loved one can be one of the most overwhelming experiences we face in life. At Dillamore Funeral Service, we see first-hand how much emotional weight families carry during these moments, often alongside the everyday stresses of life.

This month is a gentle reminder to pause… to breathe… and to be kind to yourself.

If you are grieving, please know:

✨ There is no “right” way to feel
✨ There is no timeline for healing
✨ And you don’t have to carry it all alone

Sometimes, the smallest things can help ease the heaviness:
We are here not only to guide families through practical arrangements but to offer care, understanding, and a listening ear when it’s needed most.
– Taking a quiet moment for yourself
– Speaking to someone you trust
– Getting outside for a breath of fresh air
– Allowing yourself to feel, without judgment

We are here not only to guide families through practical arrangements, but to offer care, understanding, and a listening ear when it’s needed most.

If this post reaches you at a difficult time, take it as a sign to slow down today even just for a moment.

Be gentle with yourself.
