They come in weeks — sometimes months — after the injury. They describe brain fog, headaches, overwhelm, sensory overload and an inability to cope in previously normal situations.

They feel fragmented. And as their therapist, you sense the complexity of what you're working with and the challenge of orienting to the health in the system.

Cranial Connect has created From Fragmentation to Wholeness — a 3-day postgraduate course designed specifically for Craniosacral therapists who want to work more confidently with clients recovering from concussion and mTBI.

Drawing on clinical experience from backgrounds in Physiotherapy, Neuropsychology, and Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy, this practical course integrates Biodynamic CST principles with clear, accessible neurophysiology.

If your clients are finding their way back to wholeness, this course will help you walk that path alongside them with clarity and confidence.

When our feeling, thinking, seeing fingers are informed, we can meet deeper layers or safety, healing and connection - offering hope, one connection at a time.

How can Craniosacral Therapy aid recovery of Concussion/mild Traumatic Brain Injury?

By creating the optimal conditions for the brain to heal.
By settling the nervous system, allowing transition into 'rest, digest and recover'
Releasing restrictions in the dural membranes that prevent drainage or adequate flow of cerebrospinal fluid, which is needed to nourish the brain and clear it of toxins.

Cranial Connect invites Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapists to a 3-day, in-person postgraduate training, designed to support you in working with post-concussion clients with greater clarity, safety and confidence.

This practical course integrates Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy principles with clear, accessible neurophysiology.

We will explore post-concussion physiology, nervous system regulation, trauma-informed care, cerebrospinal fluid dynamics and emerging research into the Vagus Nerve, glial cell function and the glymphatic system.

When our feeling, thinking, seeing fingers are informed, we can meet deeper layers or safety, healing and connection - offering hope, one connection at a time.

Cranial Connect was formed by two Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapists who share a passion for improving outcomes in clients with mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) and Post Concussion Syndrome (PCS).

Meeting in the field of wholeness in Craniosacral therapy, Erica brings 24 years of bodywork experience from her physiotherapy background and Priyanka brings 25 years of clinical neuropsychology experience working with the mind and nervous system.

"mTBI recovery is not linear; it is relational, systemic and deeply human."

We're delighted to share our first published piece together, in the Spring 2026 edition, issue 98 of The Fulcrum, the Journal from the CSTA): From Fragmentation to Wholeness: Re-igniting the Spark in Recovery after Mild Traumatic Brain Injury.

The article builds on Nora Brennan's important piece in Issue 81 and on the wider work of CST colleagues already supporting clients through concussion recovery. It brings together what contemporary neuroscience now tells us about why symptoms may persist - the neurometabolic cascade, microglial priming, autonomic dysregulation and compromised glymphatic clearance during disrupted sleep. It then details the unique and powerful role that craniosacral therapy has in ‘meeting’ these issues in the context of supporting rest, regulation, and a felt sense of safety.

What we hope makes it useful is the bridge it tries to build: between the hard neuroscience of mTBI and the lived, embodied experience of recovery — drawing on Erica's 24 years in physiotherapy and fascial release, Priyanka's 25 years in clinical neuropsychology, and the work we've each come to as biodynamic craniosacral therapists.

For practitioners, clients, and anyone walking their own path through concussion recovery, we hope it serves as a useful and thought provoking resource.

Beyond the Concussion: Healing the invisible damage

We often work with clients who ‘just don’t feel right’ years after they sustain an injury

Recent research led by Trinity College Dublin shows that a ‘leaky’ blood-brain barrier can persist long after retirement from sport, driving the neuro-inflammation associated with CTE

As Craniosacral Therapy practitioners, we have a unique skill set to support the body’s fluid dynamics, dural membranes and nervous system. By facilitating healing in the whole system, we create the environment for repair in the structures that protect the brain from chronic inflammation

People living with persistent symptoms after a concussion or 'mild' TBI can struggle with many domains of daily living such as work, study, leisure and family duties.
How can we help individuals get their life and back on track and return to the level of function they had pre-injury?
We believe that Craniosacral Therapy (CST) has so much to offer. We want CST to be a treatment of choice, not a last resort.

TREATING THE BRAIN

Many Craniosacral practitioners avoid treating the brain in fear that they will cause problems. But the brain is not magical, it is an organ. Like any other organ it is made up of cells (neurones and glia), it has a blood supply, a 'capsule' made of meninges, both the blood vessels and the membranes have their own nerve supply. Additionally, the brain is bathed in CSF and has a glymphatic drainage system. So when the brain is injured, all and any of those physical components will be damaged. Help will be needed to aid repair and recovery. Craniosacral Tharapy is perfect for the job.

Two cranial practitioners who specialise in this field are running a seminar on 8 - 10 May, in Exeter, UK. I would highly recommend this for anyone interested in improving their understanding and skill in meeting brain injury.
