🐱🐶 Happy Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Day!

Today is all about celebrating the amazing people who are often the first friendly face you see when you walk through our doors!

Veterinary receptionists play such an important role in our practices — from welcoming you and your pets, answering questions and arranging appointments, to supporting our teams behind the scenes and helping everything run smoothly.

So today, we want to say a huge thank you to our wonderful reception team!

A special thank you to Millie and Elton at our Finchley branch, and Lisa at our Alexandra Palace branch. Thank you for all the care, kindness, patience and hard work you put into supporting our clients, their pets and the rest of the team every single day. We’re so lucky to have you!

So, when you’re next visiting us, why not give your reception team a little extra thank you? We’re sure it will mean a lot!

Are you thinking about getting a new puppy?
It’s a lovely time of year to welcome a new companion — but it’s important to make sure your puppy gets the healthiest start in life.

Before you fall in love, it’s important to know that all dogs — pedigree or crossbreed — can inherit genetic conditions from their parents.
The British Veterinary Association runs several health schemes designed to reduce the risk of inherited diseases in certain breeds. Responsible breeders use these tests to make sure they’re breeding healthy dogs.

If you’re buying a puppy, always ask to see the parents’ health test results. A good breeder will happily show you proof and explain what the results mean.

Healthy parents give puppies the best possible start!

HARLAND’S CHOCOLATE EMERGENCY

🍫🐶

Swipe to meet Harland, the Labrador who ate an entire packet of 8 chocolate chip brioche buns… yes, eight.

Chocolate is toxic to dogs, and even small amounts can cause serious illness. Harland came straight in to us as an emergency — we acted fast, made him sick, monitored him closely… and once he perked up, he trotted home later that day feeling much better.

Big shoutout to Harland for being the sweetest troublemaker of the week 💛
And remember:
Chocolate + dogs = dangerous combo.

Is your pet trying to tell you something with their eyes?!

As part of Pet Eye Health Awareness Week, we’re raising awareness of some of the signs that could indicate an eye problem in your pet.

From redness, irritation and excessive discharge to changes in appearance, cloudiness or differences between the eyes, recognising what is normal for your pet can help you spot changes early.

Some eye conditions can be painful and may progress quickly. If you notice anything unusual with your pet’s eyes, it’s important you contact Two By Two Vets to book an eye health check and get the appropriate advice and care for your pet.

EYE PRESSURE:
Some breeds of dog are at increased risk of developing glaucoma, a condition where pressure inside the eye can become abnormally high.
Glaucoma can be painful and may affect vision, but changes in eye pressure are not always obvious in the early stages.

The test is quick and straightforward. We use a veterinary tonometer to gently measure the pressure inside each eye and see whether the results are within the normal range.

DRY EYE:
Dry eye happens when the eyes do not produce enough tears. It can lead to irritation, redness, discharge and discomfort, although the early signs can sometimes be quite subtle.
The tear-production test is quick and straightforward. We use a Schirmer Tear Test to measure the amount of tears produced by each eye.
