Ever caught yourself nodding along in a conversation, only to realise you have no idea what the other person just said? Or driven the same route home so many times you arrive with almost no memory of the journey?
That's attention doing what it does — quietly deciding what gets let in and what gets filtered out. In NLP, attention means more than just "paying attention" — it's the intentional channeling of your awareness, and wherever you point it, that's the experience you get more of.
So next time your mind wanders off (or locks onto the wrong thing), try this: instead of forcing focus, ask "what am I giving my attention to right now, and is that actually where I want it?" Small shift, different result.
If ideas like this land for you, our Intro to NLP course goes a lot deeper — worth a look.
