Bipolar UK

Bipolar UK A community built by and for people affected by bipolar. We offer free peer support, lead impactful research, and campaign for change πŸ’™

We're the national charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by the much misunderstood and devastating life-long illness of bipolar

We provide a range of services to enable people affected by bipolar and associated illnesses to take control of their lives. Each year we reach out and support over 80,000 individuals through our services and information/advice publications. W

e also work in partnership with research organisations and campaign for new developments to tackle key issues. We believe the key to coping with bipolar is an early diagnosis, acceptance of the illness and adapting your lifestyle. Management of the illness can be achieved through strategies involving medication, health care, therapy and self management. We work to ensure all individuals with bipolar can manage their illness and lead independent lives. We endorse the principles of equality and diversity in all our activities. With the amazing support of our staff team, volunteers, members, service users, supporters and partnering organisations we all work to support individuals affected by bipolar.

Summer changes to routines and sleep can leave family and friends wondering how best to support someone with bipolar.

We asked our Instagram community what they wanted to know about supporting someone with bipolar. From spotting early warning signs to helping during mania, researchers from Lancaster University's Partners of Parents with Bipolar Study shared practical, evidence-based answers to your questions.

Many people in the bipolar community worry about money.

This , we're raising awareness of the financial impact of bipolar and reminding our community that support is available.

This , we're highlighting why it's so important to raise awareness of bipolar earlier in life.

Nearly half of people with bipolar experience their first symptoms before the age of 21, yet many spend years without a diagnosis.

Earlier recognition can transform lives, helping people access the right treatment and support sooner.

Struggling with sleep, risk-taking, impulsive spending and also experiencing periods of low mood?

It's worth asking... maybe it's bipolar?

'We were overwhelmed by the generosity of friends, family and people we'd never even met'

Clare marked her 60th birthday with a 60-hole golf challenge, raising more than Β£4,100 for Bipolar UK and smashing her fundraising target.

We're so grateful to Clare and her nephew Piers for their dedication and support πŸ’™
