As Volunteers' Week comes to a close, we'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to our incredible retail volunteers.

From welcoming customers and creating beautiful displays to sorting donations and keeping our shops running smoothly, their contribution is invaluable.

Quite simply, our shops wouldn't be the same without them. Every hour they give helps raise vital funds that support hospice care across our community.

Thank you for your time, dedication and kindness. We are so grateful for everything you do. 🧡

We welcome yesterday's update on the Modern Service Framework for palliative and end of life care.

The focus on earlier identification, reducing inequalities and moving towards more sustainable commissioning for hospice services is particularly important.

Every day, we see the difference that earlier, proactive and equitable care can make for people approaching the end of life and those close to them across Greenwich and Bexley. As demand for hospice care continues to grow, it is vital that hospices are recognised as equal partners in the health and care system and supported through sustainable funding and commissioning.

We are proud to work alongside our partners across South East London to help shape services around the needs of our communities, and we remain committed to ensuring people receive the dignity, compassion and care they deserve at the end of life.

Aneta Saunders, Interim CEO, said:
"We see every day the difference that compassionate hospice care makes to people and families facing some of life's most difficult moments. We're encouraged by the ambition set out in this framework and remain committed to helping ensure more people can access the care, dignity and support they need, when they need it most."

On Wednesday evening, we celebrated some truly remarkable people.

Our Hospice Volunteer Awards brought together volunteers, staff, trustees and supporters to recognise the people who give their time, skills and compassion to make a difference across Community Hospice every day.

From supporting patients and families, to helping in our shops, gardens, fundraising events and community programmes, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

Congratulations to all our award winners, nominees and long-service recipients, and thank you to every volunteer who helps us provide care, comfort and connection across Greenwich and Bexley.

You make our community stronger.
