“None of us were runners. But we did it together.”

After Mama Seera was cared for by the hospice, ten of her grandchildren took on Run Thorpe Park – raising over £4,000 in her memory. What started as a challenge became a way to reconnect, support each other, and celebrate her life.

You can do the same.

Run Thorpe Park 2026 and take on a 5k or 10k through the park before it opens. Then celebrate your achievement with a full day on the rides. 🎢

You don’t need experience, just the desire to do something meaningful.

Open Gardens Festival is open again this weekend! And this is your last chance to be part of it.

After such a lovely first weekend, we were so encouraged to see nearly 200 tickets bought across the weekend. It was a brilliant couple of days, with people across Greenwich and Bexley enjoying the gardens, meeting hosts, and making the most of a weekend outdoors.

The weather is looking gorgeous, so expect beautiful gardens, time to wander and slow down, and all the little extras that make the day special, from tea and cake to plants and friendly faces.

And if you’re coming as a family, there’s something new to look out for… Our Kids' Trail is running across selected gardens, giving little ones a fun way to explore with clues, hidden surprises and stickers along the way.

🌿 Open Gardens Festival returns this weekend!

After such a lovely first weekend, we’re opening the gates again on 20–21 June, and we’d love you to join us.

We heard so many kind words from visitors who came along last weekend. One

supporter shared:
“It was the perfect wholesome tonic… a real joy, full of community connection, families, four-legged friends and delicious homemade cakes.”

And another said:
“I find it so inspiring, admiring other people’s gardens and coming away full of ideas… the perfect place to pause and reflect.”

That’s exactly what Open Gardens is all about, taking time to slow down, explore, and enjoy something simple and uplifting, right on your doorstep.

We also saw nearly 200 tickets bought on the day, which shows just how much people value being part of something like this.

If you missed out, or you’d like to discover even more, there’s still plenty to see this weekend, from hidden corners to beautifully kept spaces, each with its own story.

And with the weather looking brighter, it’s the perfect time to plan a visit.

What does inclusive care look like?

This Pride Month, we're taking time to reflect on what inclusive care looks like in practice.

Recently, our team attended a learning session led by Dr Katherine Bristowe, exploring how communication, understanding and inclusive practice can help people feel seen, respected and supported.

One of our biggest takeaways? Inclusive care starts with understanding the person in front of you.

At Community Hospice, we know that every person's story is unique. By listening carefully, avoiding assumptions and taking time to understand what matters most to each individual, we can provide care that is truly person-centred.

Because everyone deserves care that feels personal.

Look what we spotted on our noticeboard 🧡

This lovely note was left for us by Lillie, who took part in our Hospice Mini Marathon and raised an incredible £296.50 in memory of her great-grandad, who was cared for by our hospice.

Lillie, thank you.

Thank you for your kindness, your effort, and for choosing to support us in such a special way. We’re so glad we could be there for your great-grandad and your family when it mattered most.

You should be incredibly proud of yourself, we certainly are!🤗

Thank you for helping us continue to care for local people and families across Greenwich and Bexley.

Some people leave footprints on our lives that never fade.

This Father's Day, remember a much-loved Dad, Grandad or father figure with a personalised memory leaf on our Memory Tree.

Whether you're remembering their wisdom, their laughter, their kindness, or simply how much they meant to you, your dedication will become part of a lasting tribute filled with love and remembrance.

Because although they may no longer be with us, their memory continues to live on in the stories we tell and the love they leave behind.
