This week, we’re taking the opportunity to recognise and thank our incredible care team for everything they do.

Throughout the week, our staff have been enjoying a range of treats as a small token of appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to providing excellent care to our residents every day.

Being a carer is more than just a job – it takes compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference. We are proud of our team and grateful for the support they provide to residents and their families.

Across all Belong Villages, the Exercise Department has been inspiring fitness focus with their Move it in May challenge encouraging everyone to think about their wellbeing and get moving more. 🏃

Today, the project culminated with an ambitious UMatters run for one of our exercise specialists, Andy, made his way to Crewe, starting the journey at 6am. 🤯

Meanwhile, one of Belong Crewe's exercise specialists, Jane, made 20-mile run from the village all the way to Belong Macclesfield.

Customers and colleagues have been out to cheer them on - well done, we are super proud and you've certainly inspired us! 👏

This month, we've been getting into a Moving in May spirit, our campaign to champion the benefits of daily movement and encourage everyone to get out and about. 👟

So far, our customers and colleagues have managed over 435miles (700km) between them - go team! 🤯

Don't forget, our free walking club meets every Tuesday, 11am, at reception and is open to everyone - all our customers, their families, and anyone living locally. No need to book, just turn up!

The unpaid carer stats are staggering:

➡️ Around 1.8 million people in England are providing some form of dementia care to a loved one.

➡️ Carers spend the equivalent of 4 working days a week providing essential practical and emotional support.

➡️ One third are providing more than 100 care hours weekly. 🤯

Dementia Action Week is underway and we say engaging with community networks, being socially active, and accessing expert guidance are the cornerstones of caring for loved ones with .

Bridget Lawler, Belong Admiral Nurse, comments:
“In our experience, there are many, many families muddling through the complexities and emotions of supporting a loved one with dementia. Advice and guidance are out there, so this Dementia Action Week, be sure to explore the options and get in touch.”
