🌟 Meet the Team - Branch Edition 🌟

Merewai (Merry) Dawai - Branch Nurse and Trainer

''I joined Prestige Nursing and Care over 13 years ago. I originally worked in a complex care package 2:1 as a nurse but then went on to be a Branch Nurse and Regional Trainer for the North of the UK.

I currently work as a Branch Nurse and Trainer based at the North Manchester.

I love working at North Manchester because I work with nice people who have time for each other. It’s a team effort and encourage you whilst working in your role. They have ensured I am able to work to my strengths, and the North Manchester team support me doing this. I enjoy coming to work, which is good!!

In my personal life I have many interests and previously I was an ex-biker whizzing around in motorcycle leathers. Now I like going to the theatre or concerts, music, films, meeting up with friends. I also love Cuban Salsa dancing and going to dance weekends in the Northwest.

Things you may not know about me ☺️

🧐 My proper name is Merewai which comes from the Fiji Islands. My Dad came to Rochdale to play rugby for Rochdale Hornets, where he met my Mum here at work.

💃 I started playing piano when I was 6 years old and love music, classical, rock, big band and dance/Latin music.

🎨 I love colour in my house and in my clothes. I don’t do beige!! Not without another colour at least.

🚗 I have travelled on all UK motorways for previous jobs or personal travel and enjoy good fish and chips in Whitby on the northeast coast.

🖤 Oh, and I collect Whitby jet jewellery

Prestige is a lovely place to work where I have been listened too, encouraged and supported.

✨ Celebrating 10 Years of Inclusion, Community & Fun! ✨

What an incredible day we had yesterday celebrating the 10th anniversary of Accessible Festival and what a fantastic milestone to be part of! 💗

The event was bigger, better, and more inspiring than ever, bringing together so many amazing people, organisations, families, and communities in a truly inclusive environment.

A huge thank you goes to Ann Pimm from Summerseat Physiotherapy Clinic, the driving force behind this wonderful event, your passion, energy, and commitment have helped make Accessible Festival what it is today. 💪✨

We're also incredibly grateful to Karen Wilding and the fantastic team at KW Therapy Ltd for partnering with us and helping bring our farmyard-themed stand to life! 🐷🐐🐴🐄🐑 It certainly brought plenty of smiles and was a wonderful example of what can be achieved through collaboration.

A special thank you to our amazing teams from Prestige Nursing & Care Wakefield and Prestige Nursing & Care Greater Manchester, who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm throughout the day. Your dedication and passion for supporting others shone through from start to finish. 💜

Days like these remind us how important accessibility, inclusion, and community are. We are proud to support events that celebrate and empower individuals of all abilities, and we're already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

🌟 Meet the Team - Branch Edition 🌟

"Hi, I’m Claire, Branch Nurse for Prestige Nursing & Care North Manchester, proud mum of five, coffee enthusiast, and part-time football touchline spectator. If I’m honest, being a mum is probably my whole identity! With three boys and two girls, life is a constant juggling act of school runs, sports clubs, social calendars, parents’ evenings, football matches, and everything in between, but with the flexibility and support I receive in my role at Prestige, I like to think I do a pretty good job of keeping all the plates spinning.

I’ve worked at Prestige for over three years, and before joining the private care sector, I spent some of my years nursing within the NHS.

One of the biggest misconceptions about moving into private care is that you sacrifice benefits and flexibility.

For me, it’s been quite the opposite. Working at Prestige has given me the freedom to build a career I’m passionate about while still being present for my family.

I’ve never had to miss a school show, sports day, or parents’ evening. I’m home for bedtime stories, bath time, and all those everyday moments that matter most. Having that balance between my professional and personal life is something I truly value.

As a nurse, what matters even more is having the support and opportunity to deliver long-standing complex care training to our frontline support staff. Empowering our teams with the knowledge and confidence to provide attentive, specialised care means our clients receive the highest standard of support, helping them live safely and independently while maintaining the best possible quality of life.

My colleagues will also tell you that no day in the office is complete without a bit of sarcasm and the occasional burst of singing, whether they’ve asked for it or not!

Life is busy, chaotic, loud, and fuelled by caffeine, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!" 😊💜

🌟 Meet the Team, Branch Edition 🌟

"Hi, I’m Gaby, Branch Manager at Prestige Nursing & Care Manchester.

I’ve worked for Prestige Manchester for 12 years. I started as a support worker, spending two years providing frontline care before joining the branch team, where I’ve now spent the last 10 years.

When I look back, I genuinely feel like I’ve grown up alongside Prestige. The business has supported me through different stages of my life and career, and I’ve been fortunate to learn from some incredible colleagues, clients and families along the way.

What I enjoy most about my role is that no two days are ever the same. Every day brings different challenges, different people and opportunities. Its never a dull day!!

Outside of work, my world revolves around my family. Most weekends you’ll find me outdoors with my son Teddy, working in the garden, exploring somewhere new or teaching dancing.

A few fun facts about me:

💃 I teach Latin and ballroom dancing.
🌿 I love gardening and growing my own fruit, vegetables and herbs.
⚽ I’m a proud Rochdale AFC supporter.
🍫 I haven’t eaten chocolate since I was 18 years old, and I’ve never been tempted to start again!
🌲 My favourite way to switch off is spending time outdoors with my family.

I’ve been lucky enough to meet some incredible people throughout my career and work alongside a fantastic team, many of whom have become genuine friends.

The relationships I’ve built over the years with clients, families, colleagues and professionals are a huge part of why I still love what I do." 😊
