🔍 LOWER BACK PAIN? COULD MUSCLE IMBALANCES BE PLAYING A ROLE?
Do you experience persistent lower back stiffness, tight hips or discomfort after prolonged sitting?
One movement and posture pattern commonly discussed in soft tissue therapy is Lower Crossed Syndrome (LCS).
🧠 WHAT IS LOWER CROSSED SYNDROME?
LCS describes a traditional pattern of muscle imbalance involving the lower back, pelvis and hips.
It is commonly associated with:
1: Tight hip flexors : including the iliopsoas and re**us femoris
2: Increased lower back muscle tension: particularly around the lumbar erector spinae
3: Reduced abdominal muscle strength or activation
4: Reduced gluteal muscle strength or activation
These patterns may influence how we move and distribute physical demands through the hips, pelvis and lower back.
However, it's important to understand that posture and muscle imbalances do not automatically cause lower back pain. Pain is complex, and every individual presents differently.
💡 HOW DO WE APPROACH THIS AT FASIORA?
At FASIORA Performance & Soft Tissue Clinic, we believe that every patient is unique.
Rather than assuming that one muscle or posture is responsible for your discomfort, I use an assessment-led approach to understand your individual presentation.
Depending on your needs, treatment may include:
- Lower back, hip and glute soft tissue therapy
- Myofascial release techniques
- Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)
- Movement and mobility assessment
- Personalised aftercare and movement advice
The goal is to help manage muscular discomfort, improve comfort and support better movement.
