📢 Reminder: Cervical Screening (Smear Test) Drop-In Clinic 📢

Our Smear Test Drop-In Clinic will be taking place on Saturday 12th September.

If you're due or overdue for your cervical screening, this is a great opportunity to attend without a pre-booked appointment. Cervical screening is one of the best ways to help prevent cervical cancer and protect your health.

Mitcheldean Surgery: Missed Appointments (DNA) – August
In August, 88 appointments at Mitcheldean Surgery were missed because patients Did Not Attend (DNA) their booked appointment.
Every missed appointment is time that could have been used to help another patient who may be waiting for care, advice, or treatment.
We understand that plans can change. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the appointment to someone else.
By cancelling unwanted appointments, you can help us make the best use of NHS resources and improve access for everyone in our community.

🩺 Flu & COVID Vaccination Clinic 2026 - Appointments Now Available

Our Flu & COVID Vaccination Clinic will be held on Saturday 3rd October 2026, and appointments are now available to book.

Eligible patients should receive a text message invitation with a booking link, allowing you to book your appointment quickly and easily online.

If you are unable to book via the link, please contact the surgery and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Vaccination is one of the best ways to help protect yourself and those around you during the winter months. If you are eligible, we encourage you to book your appointment as soon as possible.

🌞 Hot Weather Alert: Keep Yourself Safe in the Heat

With temperatures rising over the next few days, we want to help everyone stay well and avoid heat‑related illness. Please take a moment to look after yourself and those around you.

Key advice for staying safe in hot weather:

• Avoid midday sun — Try to stay out of direct sunlight between 11am and 3pm, when it’s strongest.

• Plan activity wisely — Save exercise or outdoor tasks for the cooler parts of the day.

• Keep your home cool — Close windows and curtains in rooms facing the sun to help reduce indoor temperatures.

• Protect your skin — Wear light clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and use sunscreen when outdoors.
• Stay hydrated — Drink plenty of fluids and try to limit alcohol and caffeine.

• Know the signs — Be aware of symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, and seek help promptly if they develop.
