I have been providing a person centred service for nearly 40 years in the Newcastle, South Shields and surrounding areas. My daughter Kelsey works alongside me and has over 10 years experience, she is also qualified and has the Certificate in Funeral Planning. We aim to provide you with the guidance and ad

vice you will need in all aspects of dealing with arranging a funeral service for a loved
I decided to open my own business to enable me to provide the bespoke, respectful, personal service I feel is essential when supporting families at a difficult time in their lives. Kelsey joined the business 3 years ago and we work as a family team. We provide a full choice of funeral options, tailoring this to your requirements from a simple cremation/burial to a more modern bespoke ceremony with religious, non-religious or humanist celebrants. We are able to advise on memorial services and alternative options to the more traditional funerals ie woodland burials, outdoor services. We offer pre-paid funeral plans to enable people to arrange their own funeral, lessoning the stress on their family when the time arrives. We have an open door policy and welcome you to contact me to have an informal discussion and view my premises. Kind Regards
Mark, Kelsey and Rhys

Every funeral tells a unique story, and yesterday we were fortunate to be able to be part of John’s story, who was well known as a former ice cream man.

As part of the service, John’s friend Rob brought along his own ice cream van and, after the funeral, kindly served ice creams to everyone in attendance. It was a touching tribute that reflected John’s character and brought smiles, memories, and conversation among family and friends.

At a difficult time, these personal touches can make a funeral even more meaningful. Whether it’s a favourite hobby, career, passion, or tradition, incorporating something special into a service can create a lasting and fitting tribute to a loved one.

It was wonderful to see how something as simple as sharing an ice cream could bring people together to remember John and celebrate a life well lived.

We all know that these discussions are difficult to have, but this short video shows the importance of the discussion, so that families are not left with grief that has 'no where to go'. It is so important that your family has the opportunity to say goodbye in a way that supports them with the process of living without a loved one in their life and knowing that were able to give a goodbye that felt right for them as well as you.

Given all that has happened with regard to the case of Robert Bush at Legacy funerals in Hull, as a family run company we wanted to offer you some reassurance. We are members of SAIF and have been for 13 years. We have been inspected and have temperature controlled facilities for your loved one. We are a professionally run company with our family having qualified with either the Diploma FD or the Cert FP. We fully support all of those who are striving for the regulation of our industry. This is long overdue to stop those individuals who feel they can open up a funeral home with little or no experience. Do not be afraid to ask questions of your funeral director as to how long they have been working as a funeral director, what qualifications they hold and how they care for your loved one.

This month see’s Mark gain 45 years working in funeral service. After his mum died last year we found this which she had kept and used to have on display ( she was so proud of him). This was December 1980 and he started his career in March 1981. Funeral service has changed so much over the years and continues to do so. Here is to the next generation of funeral directors out there just waiting to join the profession.
