They don’t always speak about the sleepless nights, the overthinking, the silent disappointments, or the battles no one sees. They master the art of being “okay” — even when they’re anything but.

Strength doesn’t always look loud.
Sometimes it looks like getting out of bed when your heart feels heavy.
Sometimes it looks like choosing kindness when you’re hurting.
Sometimes it’s just surviving the day.

The woman I am today wraps her arms around the child I once was. My eyes are closed, not in sadness, but in quiet understanding. It’s a hug filled with everything that couldn’t be said back then: reassurance, protection, acceptance, and love without conditions. The child leans in, still open, still trusting - unaware of the journey ahead, yet already deserving of every bit of tenderness she receives.

This moment captures something many of us spend years learning: how to turn inward with kindness instead of criticism. I am definitely still learning that.
Loving ourselves isn’t instinctive for everyone, it’s often a long, complicated path shaped by experiences, wounds, and unspoken expectations. It asks us to meet the parts of ourselves we ignore or judge, and to hold them with patience instead of distance.

Self-love isn’t a destination we arrive at one day fully formed. It’s a practice (sometimes gentle, sometimes uncomfortable) of choosing compassion over harshness, again and again. And perhaps the most powerful step is realizing that the younger version of us is still there, quietly hoping we’ll come back and offer the love they always needed.
