This morning, we said goodbye to our mum đź–¤

She was the woman who made me who I am today — my biggest supporter, my guiding hand, and the reason I found the courage to build T Hemsell Repatriation. Everything I do, both personally and professionally, carries a little piece of what she taught me.

Today was one of the hardest days of my life, but I wasn’t alone.

By my side were my incredible team, my fiancée Chloe, Verity, Andy, James, and Billy. People I work with every day, but people I’m proud to call family. In an industry where we spend our lives supporting others through loss, they reminded me today what it feels like to be supported myself.

The funeral family is a special one. Even when it’s not work, even when the roles are reversed, they show up, stand beside you, and carry you when you need it most.

Thank you for being there for me today. I’ll never forget it.

Alongside sharing our journeys on this page, including testimonials and vehicle photographs, we are introducing something a little different.

In our spare time, we take a professional interest in exploring historical British funeral traditions and practices. With this in mind, we will be sharing a “Funeral Fact” every Tuesday — offering a respectful insight into customs and history within the funeral profession.

A small addition to our weekly content, reflecting both our work and our continued interest in the heritage of funeral care.

In Victorian Britain, London had a dedicated funeral railway called the London Necropolis Railway.
From 1854 to 1941, special trains carried both coffins and mourners from London to the vast Brookwood Cemetery because the city’s graveyards had become overcrowded. It was the world’s first funeral railway.

Even more oddly, the railway had different classes for the dead first, second, and third class and separate sections based on religion. đź–¤

This week, we say goodbye to the heart of our family, our biggest supporter, and one of the most selfless people we have ever known – our Mum.

Mum had the kindest soul. She always put others before herself, making sure everyone around her was cared for, loved, and supported. No matter what challenges life brought, she stood beside me without judgement, offering strength, encouragement, and unwavering love when I needed it most.

This week, I will say goodbye to the woman who gave me life, who believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself, and who never stopped being my greatest source of comfort and support. The loss we feel is impossible to put into words.

My soon-to-be wife and I will forever treasure the memories we shared with Mum. Her love, laughter, wisdom, and warmth will remain with us always, woven into the fabric of our lives and the family she helped create.

Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Mum is now reunited with our daughter. While we will miss her every day for the rest of our lives, her love will never leave us.

Sleep peacefully, Mum. Thank you for everything you gave us, for every sacrifice you made, and for every moment of love you shared.

We will carry you with us always and will never, ever forget you.

As we prepare to begin a new week, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work achieved over the past seven days.
We have helped bring so many people back home to their loved ones, and we couldn’t be prouder of our team.

Our call-out team have been exceptional this week. They handled every situation with professionalism and compassion, including a hoax call that was managed calmly and effectively. Their dedication and resilience never go unnoticed, and we are immensely proud of each and every one of them.

This week, Fez and Mollie will be travelling across the country, helping to reunite loved ones with their families and ensuring they are brought home with the care and dignity they deserve.

Meanwhile, the ambulances have been thoroughly cleaned, checked, and prepared, ready to begin another week of important journeys.

Here’s to another week of supporting families and making a difference where it matters most. 🖤
