Pride.

That’s the word that comes to mind when I look around the room each week.

Not because everyone can do every exercise perfectly.

Not because they’re the strongest or the fittest.

But because I know how far many of them have come.

I know they’ve all had different starting points.

Different bodies.

Different experiences.

Different challenges.

Yet they keep showing up.

Week after week.

When they’re tired.

When life is busy.

When motivation is nowhere to be found.

They keep turning up.

And that’s where the real change happens.

Strength grows.

Confidence returns.

Movement becomes easier.

As a Teacher, watching that journey is one of the greatest privileges of my job.

Do you ever feel like your body just isn’t keeping up anymore?

Your hips ache after a walk.

Your back feels stiff when you get up from the sofa.

You’re tired more often than you’d like to be.

You keep telling yourself it’s your age, your hormones, or that you just need to exercise more.

But what if the thing you’ve been blaming on getting older is actually changeable?

Sometimes it’s not about doing more it’s about moving better.

When your body moves more efficiently, everyday life feels easier. Walking, gardening, carrying shopping, exercising, or simply getting through the day without feeling stiff and worn out.

Your body will always find another way, a body can look strong and still be compensating.

Control, stability and mobility before load every single time. Strength without control is very rarely sustainable.

Pilates isn’t about doing less.
It’s about building a body that can tolerate more!

Hello to some new faces on here🥰
I’m Jenny, the person behind Core Pilates Oban.

Alongside many years working within the NHS, I run Pilates classes and assessment led rehabilitation sessions here in Oban. I have a big focus on movement quality, biomechanics and helping people better understand their bodies.

Outside work I’m happiest outdoors somewhere near the sea, kayaking, hill walking, travelling, or being followed around by an overenthusiastic collie.

Thanks to I have launched my new website which reflects the direction my work has gradually evolved towards over the years.

Over time I’ve realised I don’t work best through quick fixes or random one off appointments.

The best results come from properly understanding someone’s body, movement patterns and lifestyle over time, then rebuilding from there with the right plan, support and progression.

I love helping people understand why things are happening, improve confidence in movement, and feel stronger and more capable again.

That’s why my approach is very assessment and education led rather than generic exercise.

Everything I do, classes, workshops, rehabilitation and retreats, is built around helping people move better long term.

Sometimes the problem is not that you are not trying hard enough.

It is that your body is compensating around dysfunction, pain, weakness or poor control and every exercise simply reinforces the same pattern. This becomes a frustrating vicious cycle.

I am seeing this more and more in clinic lately.
People working hard, doing all the “right” things, but still ending up sore, frustrated, or stuck.

Before layering on more exercise, sometimes you need to slow down, assess properly, and rebuild the foundations first.

That is where real progress begins❤️

I’ve always worked this way… I’ve just never explained it properly.

If you’ve been to me before, you’ll know it’s never been about random exercises or quick fixes.
It’s always been about understanding why something isn’t working and fixing that.

The difference now is I’m structuring it properly.

➡️ Every client starts with a 1:1 assessment
➡️ You’re given a clear plan based on what I find
➡️ We work through it step by step
➡️ You progress properly not just “keep going”

Both Life Pause @ Knipoch retreat days are now fully booked.
These first dates were offered to my existing clients first as a thank you for their continued support.
The idea was to bring a little of my Andalucía retreat feeling to Oban. Beautiful surroundings, movement, good food and time to reset.
I’m so grateful for the response and really looking forward to these special days.
