📢 Help Us Make Appointments Available for Those Who Need Them

154 patients Did Not Attend their appointment.

During the month of May, 154 patients did not attend their appointments 😲 These missed appointments could have been offered to other patients who needed to be seen.

If you no longer need your appointment, please cancel it as soon as possible. Even a short notice cancellation can help us offer the appointment to another patient. ☎️📲

If you have submitted a triage request, please keep an eye on your phone, text messages, and the NHS App (if applicable), as we may contact you with an appointment offer or further information. Missing a reply could delay your care and prevent us from making the best use of available appointments.

💙 June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month 💙

This month is a reminder that mental health matters just as much as physical health. Too many men still feel they need to suffer in silence, but asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Too often, men feel pressure to "just get on with it" or keep their struggles to themselves. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, addiction, or simply finding life overwhelming, support is available.

📍 Here in Oldham, there are organisations ready to help, including:

🟢Andy's Man Club – free weekly peer-support groups for men every Monday at 7pm, free peer-to-peer support groups for men aged 18+. https://andysmanclub.co.uk/

🟢NHS Oldham Talking Therapies – self-referral support for anxiety, depression, stress and related mental health concerns. https://familyhubs.oldham.gov.uk/nhs-oldham-talking-therapies-formally-healthy-minds-2/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

🟢Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind - Oldham Office – mental wellbeing and support services for local residents. https://www.oldham.gov.uk/info/201243/welcome_to_oldham/3187/mental_wellbeing/3?utm_source=chatgpt.com

If someone is in immediate crisis or at risk of harming themselves, contact emergency services on 999 or call Samaritans on 116 123, available 24 hours a day.

At Springfield House, we understand that reaching out can be difficult, but you don't have to go through things on your own. Our team is here to listen, support and help you take positive steps towards better mental wellbeing.

💙 Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
💙 Talking can change lives.
💙 You matter.

Take a moment this month to check in on the men around you. A simple conversation could make all the difference.

💙 Got Questions About Childhood Vaccinations? We’re Here to Help.

As parents, we all want to do what’s best for our children. We understand that you may have questions about childhood vaccinations, and it’s important that you feel informed and supported when making decisions about your child’s health.

Vaccinations play a vital role in protecting children from serious illnesses such as measles, meningitis, whooping cough and other preventable diseases. They are one of the most effective ways of keeping children healthy and helping to prevent outbreaks within our communities.

If you have any concerns or would simply like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We can arrange a convenient appointment for you to speak with one of our clinicians, who will be happy to discuss any questions you may have.

We offer flexible appointments Monday to Friday and will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Whether your child is due their vaccinations, has missed one, or you’d just like to talk things through, we’re here to listen and support you.

📞 Please contact Springfield House Surgery to arrange a discussion with a clinician.

Together, we can help give our children the best possible protection for a healthy future.

To celebrate World Hand Hygiene Day 🌍 (05.05.26), we’re reminding everyone how important clean hands are in keeping people safe.

Clean hands help to:
• Stop germs spreading and prevent infections 🦠
• Keep antibiotics working well 💊
• Reduce avoidable illness and pressure on services 💰

How can Primary Care staff get involved?

🖐️ Clean hands at the right time

• Keep arms bare below the elbows, nails short and clean, and cover any cuts/ broken skin 🩹
• Follow the WHO 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene, using soap & water/hand gel correctly
• Senior staff – lead the way, reminding others if needed 🤝 👩‍

👨‍👩‍👧 Support patients and visitors

• Encourage patients/visitors to clean their hands on arrival and before leaving 🚪
• Provide hand gel at reception and clinical room entrances
• Promote skin care to prevent dryness and maintain effective hand hygiene 🧴

Remember: actions save lives – small actions like hand hygiene make a big difference ✨
