🎗September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month🎗

Knowing the signs and listening to your body can make a real difference 🩷

Please speak to your GP if you notice any unusual or persistent symptoms including:

♦Unusual vaginal bleeding
♦Changes to your periods
♦Unusual discharge
♦Persistent bloating or abdominal pain
♦Pelvic pain or pain during s*x

🌸Cervical screening (Smear Tests) can help prevent cervical cancer by detecting HPV and abnormal cells early. Please attend when you're invited.

If something doesn't feel right, don't ignore it-- get checked.

At Oldham Family Practice, we understand that sometimes things come up and you may be unable to attend your appointment.

If you can't make your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the appointment to another patient.

❌Did Not Attend (DNA) appointments mean valuable appointment slots can go unused, while other patients may be waiting to be seen.

If you no longer need your appointment, please cancel or rearrange it in advance by contacting the practice.

💙Flu Vaccinations 2026💙

Our flu vaccinations clinics will be taking place as planned completely unaffected by the recent nationwide vaccine supply disruptions, with appointments available on Thursday 1st October and Monday 12th October.

Eligible patients will be invited to book their flu vaccination. If you have received an invitation, please contact the practice to book your appointment.

We are sharing an opportunity to get involved in Empowered Conversations, a project evaluating a 6-week course designed to help improve communication and relationships for dementia care supporters.

Who can take part?
- Aged 18 or over
- Currently a family carer or care supporter for someone living with dementia
- Provide emotional or practical support at least weekly

Participants will be compensated for their time.

🩷NEW NHS HOME HPV TESTING KITS🩷

A new NHS Service is being rolled out to make it easier for women who are overdue their cervical screening to take an important step towards protecting themselves against cervical cancer.

📬Eligible women will receive an invitation by post, email or phone notification. If invited, you'll be able to order a free HPV self-testing kit through the NHS App or your NHS online account and complete the test in the comfort of your own home.

🔬HPV testing can help identify those at higher risk of developing cervical cancer, allowing further checks and treatment when needed.

✨If you receive an invitation, please don't ignore it. Taking a few minutes to complete your screening could make a life-saving difference.
