Breast Cancer Prevention Week: this matters for men too

Breast Cancer Prevention Week, led by Breast Cancer UK, is about helping people understand their risk of breast cancer and what they can do to reduce it and spotting changes early.

Breast cancer doesn’t just affect women. Men can get breast cancer too.

The key is to get to know what’s normal for your chest. Checking regularly helps you notice any changes early. Try to check about once a month.

🎥 Watch Dr Tom Ashley-Norman explain what to look out for and how to check: https://youtube.com/shorts/eGLod02KYcw?feature=share.

If you know someone this could help - a partner, dad, brother or friend - please share this post.

Knowing what’s normal could help you spot a change early.

You can find out more on our website.

Breast Cancer Prevention Week is a national campaign led by Breast Cancer UK. It’s about helping people understand their risk of breast cancer and what they can do to reduce it and just as importantly, spotting changes early.

For women, checking your breasts regularly helps you understand what’s normal for your body. This makes it easier to notice any changes. Try to check about once a month, in a way that works for you.

Breast screening is also important. The NHS offers screening (mammograms) to women aged 50 to 71 every 3 years. It’s free and can detect cancers too small to see or feel.

🎥 Watch Dr Laura Brennan explain what to look out for, how to check, and what happens at your screening appointment: https://youtu.be/_xMHS695k3U.

If you know someone this could help - a friend, mum, sister or colleague - please share this post.

You can find more information on our website.
