💜Lipoedema is NOT Obesity – Know the Difference 💜

At JC Holistics, we’re passionate about raising awareness and supporting women with Lipoedema — a chronic, often misunderstood condition.

💜Lipoedema is a medical disorder of fat distribution, most commonly affecting the hips, buttocks, legs, and sometimes the arms. It almost exclusively affects women and is often triggered or worsened by hormonal changes such as puberty, pregnancy, or menopause.

💜Here’s how Lipoedema differs from obesity:

🟣Uneven Fat Distribution: Lipoedema fat is disproportionately stored in the limbs, often sparing the feet and hands — unlike general obesity.
🟣Pain & Sensitivity: Affected areas can feel tender, heavy, and bruise easily — symptoms not typical in obesity.
🟣Diet-Resistant: Unlike obesity, Lipoedema fat doesn’t respond well to diet and exercise alone, leading many women to feel confused or disheartened.
🟣Progressive: Without intervention, Lipoedema can worsen over time and impact mobility, mental health, and quality of life.

June is Lipoedema Awareness month!

At JC Holistics we are passionate about raising awareness and supporting the 11% of women who live with this debilitating and painful condition. Both Janine and Chloe are trained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and offer treatments to support women manage their symptoms.

Janine is in Darwen Monday and Wednesday and Fulwood Thursday Friday.

Chloe is Darwen only, Monday to Saturday including evenings.

Janine specialises in Clinical Massage Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), Post-Surgical Care, Lipoedema and Lymphoedema Support, Oncology Massage, Reflexology and Reiki. With a clinical yet compassionate approach, Janine helps clients manage pain, improve mobility, support recovery and enhance overall wellbeing.

🩷 Chloe – Chloe’s Holistic Therapies
Chloe offers Swedish Massage, Reflexology and Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), including specialist Post-Operative Lymphatic Drainage treatments. Having successfully completed the Lymphaeum Education Diploma in Lymphatic Drainage, Chloe combines relaxation and therapeutic care to support recovery, reduce swelling, promote wellbeing and help clients feel their best.

🩷 Emma – Emma Hilton Holistics
Emma is a Reiki Master Teacher, Sound Healing Practitioner and Crystal Therapist. She offers Reiki, Sound Healing, Chakra Balancing and spiritual wellbeing treatments, as well as monthly group sound baths and one-to-one sound healing sessions. Emma helps clients reconnect, recharge and restore balance in their lives.
