A Different Way to Travel Together

At John Weir Funeral Directors, we understand that every family is different, and sometimes a traditional funeral cortege of a hearse and limousines may not feel quite right.

As an alternative, we can offer a Mercedes Vito hearse alongside a people carrier, providing a more relaxed and personal way for family and friends to travel together as part of the cortege.

This option can be particularly suited to families who would prefer a less formal approach, while still ensuring the dignity, care and professionalism you would expect from John Weir Funeral Directors.

Whether you choose a traditional hearse and limousine cortege or something a little different, we are here to help you create a funeral that feels right for you and your family.

A funeral is entirely a matter of personal choice and preference. The only way of obtaining the correct information is by detailed discussion with a funeral director.

We have acquired an enviable reputation for providing a dedicated and professional service to our clients. Each member of our staff has been highly trained to deal with clients in a sympathetic and understanding nature in times of great distress. We have no fewer than seven professionally qualified funeral directors, each having gained either a diploma in funeral directing or a certificate in funeral arranging and administration.

As a family-run business, we prioritise respect, dignity, and compassion in everything we do. With years of experience, our dedicated team is here to support you every step of the way, offering guidance in arranging personalised funerals that reflect the unique life of your loved one.

Today's sentencing at Hull Crown Court marks another significant moment for the many families affected by the actions of Robert Bush and his funeral business.

Our thoughts are with everyone who has suffered, and continues to suffer, because of the distress caused. No family should ever have to question whether their loved one has been treated with the care, dignity and respect they deserve.

For many years, we at John Weir Funeral Directors have supported calls for statutory regulation of the funeral profession. Those calls have also been made by both of the profession's leading organisations, but, at present, no such regulation exists.

In the meantime, there are simple steps families can take to give themselves added reassurance. When choosing a Funeral Director, look for one who is a member of a recognised professional organisation such as the Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and/or the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD). Membership means funeral directors are expected to meet high professional standards and follow a strict code of practice.

Choosing a Funeral Director is one of the most important decisions you'll make for a loved one. If you have any questions about arranging a funeral or what to look for when choosing a funeral director, please don't hesitate to speak to your local trusted independent Funeral Director.

Our thoughts remain with every family affected.

A Piece of Fire Service History

There's something truly special about preserving vehicles that have served their communities with pride.

This beautifully restored London Fire Brigade Turntable Ladder is an impressive example of British fire service heritage. Still wearing its iconic London Fire Brigade livery and complete with its towering aerial ladder, it remains a striking sight wherever it goes.

Now carefully adapted for ceremonial use, this remarkable vehicle continues to serve with dignity, honouring lives and creating a fitting tribute on life's final journey.

We love sharing the unique vehicles that formed part of our fleet, and this one would never fail to capture attention and spark conversations about its fascinating history.

What do you think of this incredible piece of motoring and fire service heritage?

⭐ We are absolutely delighted to share that we have just received our 2,000th 5-star review! ⭐

Every review has been independently submitted by the families who have entrusted us to support them during some of life's most difficult moments.

Reaching this milestone is a true reflection of the hard work, dedication, compassion, and professionalism of our incredible team. We couldn't be prouder of every member of staff who makes this possible each and every day.

To all the families who have taken the time to leave us a review – thank you for your trust, your kind words, and your support. It means the world to us.

Direct cremations are frequently advertised on television, but many people may not fully understand what this type of service includes. For some families, a direct cremation is the right choice, and as with all funerals, the decision is a personal one.

A direct cremation typically involves the collection of the deceased, transportation to a crematorium, the cremation itself, and the return of the ashes to the next of kin. There is no funeral service or ceremony included.

It's important to remember that a meaningful funeral does not have to be expensive. Most funeral directors can offer a range of options to suit different budgets, helping you create a respectful and fitting farewell that honours your loved one while meeting your financial circumstances.
