More than 2 million people in the UK are living with an arrhythmia — a heart rhythm disorder that can affect anyone, at any age.

Some people experience palpitations, dizziness, breathlessness, fainting and unexplained loss of consciousness, or fatigue. Others may not realise anything is wrong until a serious event occurs.

This World Heart Rhythm Week, help us raise awareness of the symptoms that should never be ignored.

Hot weather and thunderstorms can trigger symptoms in those who suffer with lung conditions such as asthma.

The NHS and Asthma + Lung UK advise taking the following steps to stay safe during thundery weather:
• Keep Your Inhaler Close: Always carry your reliever inhaler with you.
• Take Your Preventer: Use your daily preventer inhaler as prescribed to keep your airways calm.
• Stay Indoors: Remain inside with windows and doors closed before, during, and after the storm to limit exposure to pollen.
• Manage Hay Fever: If you also suffer from hay fever, take your hay fever medications or antihistamines as directed to add a layer of protection.

If the weather makes your symptoms worse and you need to use your inhaler more, talk to your pharmacist, contact your GP or NHS 111.

Today is Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) Awareness Day. 💝

SVT is a rapid abnormal heart rhythm that starts in the upper chambers of the heart. Raising awareness can help more people recognise the symptoms, understand the causes, and explore treatment options.

Learn more and support the campaign: https://heartrhythmalliance.org/svt-awareness-day

SVT Awareness Day is led by Arrhythmia Alliance, working to improve the lives of people affected by heart rhythm conditions.

Looking good shouldn’t come at the expense of your eye health. Some sunglasses are designed purely for style, so if you want real protection, always check for a UV rating. You can usually find it on the inside arm or as a sticker on the lens. 😎
