Steroids/Cortisone and Ostenil Plus injections are used to treat knee, hip, ankle, toe, shoulder, elbow, hand arthritis, trigger finger/ thumb, carpal tunnel, tennis & golfer’s elbow, shoulder pain, frozen shoulder, heel pain, Morton’s neuroma and bursitis. We have treated thousands of patients with musculoskeletal problems such as sports injuries, postural problems, neck and back complaints and post-operative rehabilitation, and we continue to do so today. In keeping with our total body approach, we have also treated a range of other conditions perhaps not traditionally associated with physiotherapy, such as vertigo, dizziness and stress incontinence. We believe firmly in identifying the root cause of a problem, whether caused by a musculoskeletal condition or otherwise, and in teaching patients how to prevent it from recurring. This philosophy is at the heart of our physiotherapy practice and is what sets us apart from other clinics. In addition to this core service, we have identified that a more integrated approach to looking after our bodies significantly improves our physical health, mental well-being and reduces the likelihood of injury or the need for corrective treatment. As a result, we have expanded our range of services to encompass three core areas: physiotherapy; fitness; and well-being.

Ultrasound-Guided Baker's Cyst Aspiration at Physiocare
"Do you have swelling or a painful lump behind your knee? It could be a Baker's cyst.
A Baker's cyst is a collection of fluid that develops behind the knee, often as a result of arthritis or a meniscal injury. It can cause pain, stiffness, tightness, and difficulty bending or straightening the knee.
At Physiocare, we use diagnostic ultrasound to accurately assess the cyst and identify the underlying cause. If appropriate, we can perform an ultrasound-guided aspiration, allowing us to precisely place the needle into the cyst and remove the excess fluid safely and accurately.
Once the cyst has been drained, we may also recommend an ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injection into the knee joint if inflammation within the joint is contributing to the cyst. Treating the underlying inflammation can help reduce the chance of the cyst returning.
The procedure is performed in our clinic, usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes, and most patients can walk out immediately afterwards. Recovery is quick, and we provide personalised advice and rehabilitation exercises to help you return to your normal activities.

I recently had the pleasure of being invited to McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Abingdon to deliver a lecture to their final-year chiropractic students on the role of musculoskeletal ultrasound in diagnosis and interventional pain management.

The three-hour session combined both a presentation and hands-on practical training, giving students the opportunity to explore how diagnostic ultrasound can support clinical decision-making and guide injection therapy. We also had some excellent discussions around referral pathways and collaborative working between healthcare professionals.

It was a privilege to speak to such an engaged and enthusiastic group of future clinicians. Their thoughtful questions and active participation made the session both enjoyable and rewarding.

A special thank you to Dan Ruby for the invitation and warm welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to future opportunities to contribute to the education of the next generation of MSK practitioners.
