We’re pleased to be offering our next free drop-in sessions at Maple View Medical Practice.

Come along and speak to local organisations for advice, support and guidance on a range of topics.

Services available include Age UK, Social Prescribing, Carers & Communities, WorkWell, Citizens Advice, Carers Careline, Act on Energy and Community Power.

No appointment is needed just drop in and speak to the team.

Youth Day is a chance to celebrate young people and remind them that it's okay to ask for help, talk about how you're feeling and take care of yourself.

💜 Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Week 💜

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a condition that happens when the immune system mistakenly attacks the joints, causing pain, swelling and stiffness.

It can affect anyone and can have a real impact on everyday life. Recognising the symptoms and getting the right support can make a difference.

Some common symptoms include:

🦴 Painful or swollen joints
🦴 Stiffness, especially in the morning
🦃 Tiredness and low energy
🦴 Warmth or tenderness around the joints

💙 Men’s Cancer Awareness 💙

Cancer can affect anyone, and looking after your health starts with paying attention to changes in your body.

For men, some of the more common cancers include prostate, testicular, bowel and lung cancer.

Things like a change when going to the toilet, a lump or swelling, blood where you wouldn't expect it, unexplained weight loss, or a cough that won't go away are worth getting checked.

It might be nothing serious, but it's always better to get it checked than to ignore it.

🚨 World Sepsis Day 🚨

World Sepsis Day raises awareness of sepsis, a life-threatening reaction to an infection that can cause serious illness and needs urgent treatment.

Sepsis can affect anyone, so knowing the signs could help save a life.

⚠️ Signs can include:

• Confusion or difficulty speaking
• Very fast breathing or difficulty breathing
• Blue, grey, pale or blotchy skin
• A rash that doesn't fade when pressed
• Feeling extremely unwell
• Not passing urine for a long time

🚨 Trust your instincts. If you or someone you care for is seriously unwell and you think it could be sepsis, seek urgent medical help.

Eczema can cause dry, itchy, cracked and inflamed skin, and flare-ups can be uncomfortable and frustrating. While there is currently no cure, treatments can help manage symptoms and reduce flare-ups.

When was the last time you checked your blood pressure? 🩺

We all keep an eye on things like our phones, diaries and bank balances, but it’s easy to forget about our blood pressure.

This Know Your Numbers! Week, we’re encouraging people across Redditch to take a few minutes to check theirs.

High blood pressure usually has no symptoms, so you may not know you have it. Checking your blood pressure can help you find out if it’s high and take action if needed.

You can check your blood pressure at home, at your local pharmacy, or by speaking to your GP practice.

It only takes a few minutes. Why not check your numbers this week? ❤️

🧣 Into the Warmth – Kingfisher Shopping Centre

We’ll be at the Into the Warmth event on Friday 18 September, from 10:30am to 3pm at Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

Come and say hello to the Kingfisher PCN team and find out more about the local support available to help you get ready for winter.

There’ll be lots of organisations there offering advice and information on things like energy bills, grants, health and wellbeing, local services and warm spaces.
