Spotting cancer early gives people the best chance of successful treatment — and local people are one of the best ways to spread that message.

Through The Front Door Project is ran by your local NHS and is supporting cancer awareness groups at GP practices right across Trafford. Trafford practices are looking for patients who'd like to get involved.
You don't need any experience. You just need to care about your community and be willing to share simple messages about cancer signs, symptoms and screening.

One volunteer told us: "Getting involved... has been one of the best things I did through my practice. I knew I was making a difference, and I was helping my own community."
It's flexible. Roughly one half-day workshop in September 2026, plus a few hours here and there afterwards. It is entirely at your own pace. We provide all the materials and support.

Keeping our families and elders safe: Cancer Awareness in Trafford

Screening checks are free, quick, and save lives—yet uptake in some of our local neighbourhoods is lower than it should be.
We want to change this by working with you.
We are asking patients from South Asian and diverse community backgrounds across Trafford to join small practice-based awareness groups.

How you can help: • Help us understand why people in your community might hesitate to attend screening. • Help pass on gentle, life-saving awareness to friends, family, and community groups. • Attend a welcoming half-day session in September 2026 to share ideas.
You don't need any medical knowledge—just your heart for your community.

Blokes aren't always great at talking about health or going to the GP when something feels wrong. But catching things early makes all the difference.
We’re looking for local people across Trafford (especially men and ordinary voices who usually stay quiet on health stuff) to help us break down barriers.
You won't be doing paperwork or medical stuff. You’ll just be helping your local GP practice share simple, down-to-earth messages about spotting signs early.

The commitment? One morning workshop in September 2026 + a few hours here and there whenever you’re free.
