KO-NEKT is an Award Winning specialist support service for children & young people with ASN, 5-25 yrs open 7 days per week from 9am-9pm.

We provide 121 support within the community & at our Skills & Play Centres within North, South Ayrshire & Lanarkshire.

This Thursday, 11 June, is the International Day of Play - a global celebration of the power of play and every child's right to play.

At KO-NEKT, play is at the heart of what we do. Through play, children and young people learn, build confidence, develop friendships, express themselves, and explore the world around them. For many children and young people with additional support needs, play provides meaningful opportunities to communicate, connect, and thrive.

As a Play Champion organisation, we're passionate about creating inclusive spaces where children and young people can enjoy the benefits of play every day.

This year's International Day of Play theme is:

Over the coming days, we'll be sharing more about why play matters and how it supports the children and young people we work with.

Our Teen Group recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to see Seussical the Musical at the The Gaiety 🎭✨

The outing gave young people the chance to experience live theatre in a fun, inclusive, and sensory-rich environment, encouraging creativity, confidence, and social connection. Watching talented performers of a similar age on stage was particularly inspiring and helped showcase the power of teamwork, dedication, and self-expression.

A huge thank you to the Gaiety Theatre and Creative Engagement Team for providing such an enjoyable and memorable experience. Opportunities like this help young people build confidence, develop new interests, and create positive memories within their community 💙

Our Wednesday night Ardrossan Kidz Cave session enjoyed a lovely walk, some fun at the park, and a chance to explore Ardrossan Castle 🏰🌳😊

It was a fantastic evening spent outdoors, making memories, enjoying the fresh air, and taking in some local history along the way.

As one young person put it: “We had the best time of our life!” 💙

Saturday had a bit of everything this week 😊 From cognitive play and puzzle solving to sensory fun with balloons, the day was packed full of play, learning, and laughter. The young people also enjoyed some adventures out in the local community, including a group bowling trip🎳

Our teens were hard at work with a day full of choice, creativity, and independent working 🌱🍪 The group chose to do some landscaping, re-potting flowers to brighten up the front garden and make the space feel even more welcoming. Afterwards, some of the boys got busy in the kitchen making empire biscuits for everyone to enjoy! A lovely session full of teamwork, life skills, and taking pride in their environment 😊

Last Friday was our end-of-term college trip to a theme park with all our wonderful students! 🎢✨ Everyone had an absolute ball, as you can see - and even the staff got in on the action too! It was fantastic to see so many smiles, laughter, and memories being made together. 💜
