☀️ Forest Training Medical hopes you are all enjoying this wonderful weather! ☀️
We’ve had several people who have attended our First Aid Courses contact us today to say how useful their burns training has been during the recent hot weather and BBQ season and how useful the reminder posts are!🔥
As part of our courses, we teach how to recognise and manage burns correctly.
🖐️ Did you know?
A patient’s own hand (including fingers) is roughly equal to 1% of their body surface area. This is often used to help estimate the size of a burn.
⚠️ You should seek medical advice if a burn is:
• Larger than 5% of the body
• Blistering
• Peeling
• Deep in appearance
• On the face, hands, feet or ge****ls
• Caused by chemicals or electricity
Or if you are worried about it or in pain
💧 First Aid for Burns
• Cool the burn under cool/tepid running water for 20 minutes
• Remove jewellery or tight clothing if safe to do so
• Do NOT apply butter, creams or ice
• Cover loosely with cling film or a sterile dressing once cooled
📞 Seek help appropriately:
• Contact NHS 111 for medical advice and guidance
• Attend Accident and Emergency for more serious burns
• Call 999 immediately for severe burns, breathing difficulties, electrical burns, or if the patient is seriously unwell
Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly ☀️
