Neck traction is a great way to decompress your neck and take pressure off the nerves and discs.

I believe this helped prevent numbness and weakness developing in my arm last night after landing badly from a throw in jiu jitsu.

Have you ever tried neck traction before?

As we get older it's easy to start blaming our age on our injuries but the reality is that most of our injuries and aches and pains as we get older are because of things we've neglected to do for our bodies. We are busy. We have families, jobs, and other commitments that end up taking priority and so we neglect doing strength.

Most of my older patients will benefit from strength work but they are afraid that doing strength work or lifting weights will get them injured or they will do damage. The reality is that most people are lifting way more than they think is capable on a daily basis.

Now if you are struggling with your injuries, aches, or pains and you know you need to get stronger but you don't know how, then shoot me a DM. I can help you.

Think about inflammation like fire.

Acute inflammation is the flames. Obvious, hot, impossible to ignore. Sprained ankle, sore throat, red swollen cut. You rest, maybe ice it, support your body, and the flames eventually burn out.

Chronic inflammation is different. It is the embers under the ash. You do not really see them, so you keep walking over the same spot, wondering why you feel flat, puffy, foggy, or just not you.

If you treat embers like flames, you miss what your body is asking for. It might not need more “fighting.” It might need less irritation, steadier meals, better sleep, fewer tiny daily fires.

When you think about your own body, do you notice more flames, or more quiet embers that never quite cool down? 👀
