We have had a lovely email from one of our mums. Her son. James Kelland (14) has been named a finalist for Young Carer of the Year at the Barnsley Chronicle Young Champions Awards 2026.

"James balances his schoolwork at Pen*stone Grammar with providing critical, daily care at home for his mother, who suffers from severe epilepsy, and his younger brother, who has complex autism. He is a quiet, steady pillar for his family and a true local hero.

IMPORTANT REGULATION UPDATE❗️

​​Paternity and Unpaid Parental Pay

Changes from 6th April 26:

1. Employees are able to give notice for taking Paternity Leave from their first day of employment

2. Employees are able to give notice for taking unpaid parental leave from their first day of employment

3. Fathers/Partners can take Paternity Leave and Pay after Shared Parental Leave and Pay

IMPORTANT REGULATION UPDATE ❗️
​​Statutory Sick Pay

Changes from 6th April 26:

1. SSP is now payable from the first full day of sickness

2. The lower earnings limit has been removed

3. The rate of SSP is 80% of their average weekly earnings

Here is Parker the Parkside puppy! 🐕‍🦺

Recently Debi attended an inspirational talk about Support Dogs.

This amazing charity provides support dogs for young children with autism and adults with epilepsy or physical disabilities.

They are based in Sheffield and receive no government funding despite saving the NHS millions every year!
