Thought I would share this.............

The reason I became a canine massage therapist was to help dogs especially those with arthritis lead a more happy & comfortable life, it still amazes me how massage works on the body & each/every case is different this is why I never stop learning!!

Morning visits done as this afternoon is too warm for massage therapy...........🐶

On my list today was visiting the beautiful Margot who I have been working with to build trust & also tailored a canine exercise program to help with skipping on her back left leg..........

We are now a few weeks into the plan - her humans have done amazing at following the exercises, fab results as so far we have built up muscle mass, have more even weight bearing, she is hardly skipping anymore & her back (epaxials) are really comfortable 🙂
Today she even allowed a mini massage with more hands on work which is just brilliant!!

This afternoon will now be a chance for me to catch up with admin....accounts, emails, vet reports & case notes here I come.......

Kim our senior Registered Vet Nurse will be starting canine rehab clinics this month on a Wednesday, she is fully trained in clinical canine massage & holds further qualifications in canine exercise rehab as well as arthritis care/management 🙂

Paws up.........who remembers Monica from last week??

Among the visits today I went to see Monica for her second clinical canine massage treatment, she was an absolute star 🤩

At the end of the session I removed her muzzle....she went to Mom for fusses then headed back to me for more massage!

Love this girl ❤

Canine massage & muzzles 🐶
Sometimes muzzles are necessary when I am treating a dog, this is not a negative & certainly not a punishment..........

🐶 Some dogs in pain may snap or try to bite especially if being touched on sensitive areas
🐶 Some dogs may be unsure/nervous of new people - then when my my bond deepens I'm happy to try without a muzzle as trust has formed
🐶 Some owners may be unsure how their dog will react so placing a muzzle helps them calm as well

Take the amazing Monica on this video...this was her first massage treatment ❤
Sadly this girl did not have the best start in life resulting in being fearful so her owner muzzle trained her & has spent time getting to understand her triggers.........

Monica did so well during this session getting used to my touch, I was even able to release some areas of restricted fascia, as you can see she is one relaxed pup!!

If you are seeking canine massage for your dog then remember to check the therapists qualifications very very carefully.......

Clinical canine massage is not just a pamper session for your dog, it is a valid form of complementary therapy BUT in the wrong hands it can exasperate pain if performed incorrectly 🐶🙁

Cooper has pretty much been with me since I started Macoby Clinical Canine Massage, I've seen him progress to his golden oldie stage of life & although sometimes he does not appreciate me sorting his tight muscles & trigger points it is an honour to be able to help him stay comfortable 😍

Meet the beautiful Darcy ❤

This lovely girl is starting her rehab journey after a diagnosis of iliopsoas myopathy - a major hip flexor of the hind limb which can show as lameness, shortened stride & pain........

Following a gait analysis, posture check & muscle palpation I started Darcy off with a treatment of clinical canine massage to help address some tight areas especially her para spinal muscles as well as looking at releasing some areas of restricted fascia especially her neck/shoulders as it was also noted about coat changes in this area, all is adds up to compensatory issues due to the nature of the injury
