🐣 April at Barnhaven 💕

What a lovely month April has been here at Barnhaven! With the arrival of spring, our residents have been enjoying plenty of fresh air, fun activities, and special moments together.

🐣 Easter Celebrations - We had a wonderful time celebrating Easter with fun games, laughter, and a delicious Easter lunch shared with friends. It was a truly joyful occasion for everyone involved.

Residents have been making the most of the brighter days with trips around Bampton for fresh air walks. We’ve also enjoyed visiting local cafés for a cuppa and cake, along with a lovely coffee morning at Bampton church visit.

🚌 Day Trips & Adventures - Our outings this month have taken us to some lovely spots including Tiverton Museum, a relaxing lunch by the river at Fisherman’s Cot, and scenic visits to Watchet Harbour and Wimbleball Lake. These trips are always a highlight and bring lots of smiles.

🧩 Activities at Barnhaven, we’ve kept busy with puzzle club, crafts, and getting our fingers green with the garden perfect ways to stay creative and enjoy the season.

👏 A big congratulations to Kayleigh Harris-Pincombe for being named Employee of the Month! Kayleigh’s work ethic, flexibility, and positive attitude make her an invaluable member of our team. She consistently goes above and beyond to support new staff, offering guidance and encouragement that helps them grow in confidence. Her genuine compassion and the strong connections she has built with both staff and residents truly set her apart. We are so grateful to have her as part of the Barnhaven family—well done, Kayleigh!

🌼 As we move into May, we’re excited for more outdoor adventures, seasonal activities, and making the most of the warmer weather together.

Have thought about or have worked in care but found the hours unpredictable or allowed for no pre planning for personal life/commitments?
Barnhaven are currently looking to welcome new members to our friendly and supportive team of care assistants, we have Full time and Part-time contracted hours available on a two-week rolling rota, giving you the stability to plan life commitments in advance. Alternatively, we have bank work that offers complete flexibility from month to month or week to week depending on your requirements.
Shifts are 7-2 or 2-9 for contracted hours and will involve alternative weekend working. Bank hours are picked up to suit the individual and include the shifts above and nights 9pm-7am.
No previous experience needed as full training and induction will be given. It is preferable that applicants hold driving licenses or have access to transport other than public transport as bus do not run at times suitable for shift starts and finishes.

🐣 March at Barnhaven 🐣

March has been a joyful and busy month here at Barnhaven, filled with meaningful moments, fun activities, and special visits for our residents.

We started the month with a lovely minibus trip to Bridwell Café, where residents enjoyed a relaxing cuppa while taking in the beautiful views — a simple outing that brought plenty of smiles.

A real highlight this month was a special Easter visit from a bunny, which arrived just in time for the celebrations! Residents thoroughly enjoyed the cuddles and interaction — it certainly brought lots of happiness and laughter to everyone.

Back at the home, we’ve been busy with Easter crafting, creating colourful decorations, as well as enjoying plenty of baking sessions, where residents made (and of course tasted!) lots of delicious treats.

We also took time to celebrate Mother’s Day, recognising and honouring all kinds of mothers and sharing special moments together.

Another fantastic day was our visit over to Margaret Allen, where staff joined in supporting Red Nose Day, raising money for Comic Relief. Everyone took turns on the exercise bike, and it was a huge success — full of fun, laughter, and great team spirit.

Carla has truly stood out this month for consistently shining in both activities and cleaning. She brings enthusiasm and creativity to every activity she leads, helping residents feel engaged and valued. Her cleaning is equally impressive — always reliable and completed with pride. Carla’s positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed make her an essential part of the team. Thank you, Carla!

As we look ahead to April, we’re excited for more adventures on the minibus, more shared laughter, and many more happy moments together.

🚴‍♀️ Comic Relief Bike Ride Fundraiser – Friday 20th March at Margaret Allen House 🔴

Just a little reminder that the residents and staff at Margaret Allen House and Barnhaven Care Home will be taking part in our exercise bike ride fundraiser for Comic Relief on Friday 20th March

We’ll be cycling throughout the day to help raise money for this fantastic cause, and we would love for you to come along, show your support, enjoy the fun and maybe even cheer us on ❤️

If you’re unable to make it on the day but would still like to support us, we have set up a JustGiving page where you can donate. Every little bit helps and will go towards supporting the amazing work Comic Relief does.

💖 February at Barnhaven 💖

February has been a lovely month here at Barnhaven, filled with special visitors, celebrations and plenty of smiles!

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Bonnie the Pony to the home. Residents thoroughly enjoyed meeting her – there were lots of cuddles, gentle strokes and wonderful conversations sparked by her visit. Animal visits always bring such joy and comfort to everyone.

We also had a fantastic visit from pupils at Bampton Church of England Primary School, who came in to read to our residents. It was heartwarming to see different generations spending time together, sharing stories and laughter. The children were a credit to their school, and our residents truly loved the experience.

To celebrate Chinese New Year, our wonderful cook Sarah prepared a delicious Chinese-themed meal for everyone to enjoy. The dining room looked lovely, and residents enjoyed tasting something a little different while learning about the celebrations.

Valentine’s Day was another highlight of the month. We spent time doing Valentine’s crafts, baking sweet treats, and enjoying a special Valentine’s meal together. There was plenty of love and laughter shared throughout the day.

We’ve also enjoyed:

A huge congratulations goes to our Employee of the Month – Mandy Hines 👏

Mandy has made an outstanding impression since starting with us. She has shown remarkable flexibility, willingly stepping into different roles with confidence and positivity. Mandy has settled in beautifully to the home and is already building wonderful relationships with both staff and residents in a very short time. We are so proud to have her as part of the Barnhaven team!

We’re looking forward to celebrating Mother’s Day, raising money for Comic Relief with Red Nose Day, and hopefully enjoying some sunny spring days so we can get out and about a little more.

And to all families and friends – thank you for your continued support and trust over the years.

We are so proud of everything Barnhaven Care Home has become and the memories we’ve shared along the way.
